I am glad you like it. It helped me stay focused and I shared it hoping it might help another.

One possible way is very long. You need to build your own credibility, then throw it in their face and gloat, "I was right, you were WRONG, now you're miserable and that's GOOD."

Ha! That made my head spin when I first read it. I had to go through it again to catch it all.

That's an interesting way to look at a limiting word. "Impossible" really is bandied about WAY too much nowadays, and seems to have lost its meaning.

Someone says, "It's impossible to have this report done in a week." or "It's impossible for me to get out of this rut I'm in." and what they really mean is "I'm scared of the effort that will require and choose to make excuses instead."

I love it when someone says something is "impossible," because usually it is something so dumb. I reply with, "No. We've made it possible for humans to breathe in outer space, and I can make a brick fly with the right contraption. Compared to that, your situation is nothing. Think harder." :p

So I like this new way of seeing this word. While it may not be something you could say out loud (since those around you would be completely confused) I think it could be a great little motivator. Just one more thing to set you apart and above the nay-sayers.

One major key in not giving up. Often that is the only factor in ones failure.

When to give up? Well my friend the question is, are you trying something out? If you are merely trying to do something then the quitting point is up to you.

There is a major difference between trying something and making a firm decision to make a life change you believe in.

If you firmly believe in something you never stop until you attain that which you know to be possible. Many hurdles in life come as a seemingly impossible situation. However, evidence has proven that those who do not take failure as a defeat, and believe that it only equals one step closer to resolve are the champions of our world.

Years ago Henry Ford went to his engineers and said I want to build an 8 cylinder engine. They told him it could not be done. It was Impossible! These were his professional engineers and one would think they knew what they were talking about.

After much debate back and forth Henry Ford finally said I want it go to work on it. He checked with his highly educated engineers after 6 months and they told him they had not accomplished building a v8 engine and once again it was impossible. He says keep working on it. I want it.

A year passes and he checks in again. The engineers said again we cannot do this it is impossible. After a year of spending who know how much money on engineers who produced nothing of Henry Ford's objective, he simply said, keep working I want it.

During the next 6 months they had finally created the v8 engine, contrary to ALL the evidence that pointed toward it being impossible.

So the quest is my friend, is whatever you are faced with something you are trying or is it a firm decision you have made.

Michael has a good point about the difference between trying something and dedicating yourself to something, but I would like to add something to that.

There does come a point when you need to step back and ask "why isn't this working?" Once in my business, and once in the business of a family member (about a year separated these,) we were struggling and struggling, and NOTHING was coming of all our hard work. We were barely making forward progress, and all we were doing was getting frustrated and further behind on the bills.

People around us were telling us to give up, and we knew that wasn't the answer. But we did step back and look at the big picture as much as we could, and asked for guidance. For me and my family member, that was praying - asking for a pointer of some kind to show us what we were missing.

I also got some Anthony Robbins books and started methodically going through my life and business, seeing if I could find anything that wasn't "jiving."

Long story short (or as short as I can make this ) I found a new path for my business that just seemed to "fall into place" for me. I've been skipping merrily down it ever since. The SAME THING happened for my family member.

So if things just seem to be stuck and they won't budge no matter what you do, see if you can redirect yourself a little. Maybe everything seems like an uphill struggle because that isn't the way you're meant to go. I moved from freelance writing to product development and everything changed. It doesn't seem like a big shift, but it made all the difference in the world.

So, be dedicated to your dreams - but don't be afraid to see if your plans need changing occasionally. After all, "no battle plan survives contact with the enemy."

There is just a very fine line between changing your plans to make things work smoother, and skipping from plan to plan, never actually sticking with something long enough to determine whether it is working or not. Watch that line carefully.

I agree, you have to see it before you see it. What you want you must be able to see in your mind before you can see it in your hand

I like it dan. The one thing I have to say about giving up comes from a old bryan duncan song. "Im givin up givin up". I always have liked that line.

This is true, my current success is a mix of my previous mentors over the years. Now I get paid well over the average person for a days work.

To be honest my friend this kind of thinking is a gift to me as well. You see I grew up poor just as many people have. I now help many many sales people grow to the point of self reliance. The whole time I do this there is that voice in the back of my head saying you cannot do this you grew up poor you can't help others.

I ignore the voice and move on because there is a second voice in my head saying to many others came from your back ground they can do it and so can you. I am telling you this to say in the midst of success even the successful people have hidden struggles inside. I am not successful and I have them as do many I know.

The only difference is we work past them and keep working in spite of how loud they get.
This opens our minds and spirits up to things like reading a book then suddenly looking at a word totally different than before.
I say all that to say. Let no one tell you that you are any less or any more than another. You may think well Michael seems to have it all together. I have no more gifts than any other person. I just have learned how to focus in on mine and now help others to do the same.

Impossible is exactly that....nothing and since they are synonymous if you let something become impossible you will in that achieve nothing. One comes hand in hand with the other.

Truth brings out the fact that impossible is an imposter that binds one in fear while once again having no strength or resolve. Thus giving it is such strength or resolve is indeed insanity.
