How to Find a Mentor?

Hi. This will be my first post on the warrior forum. So far this is about my third Affiliate forum im joining, and its always really great to have a place to ask questions that come up.

I do find that nothing compares to having a one on one time with a mentor.

I'm not looking for someone to watch over my shoulder, but maybe someone you can talk to for 15 minutes a week or so to make sure I'm not stepping in holes that have already been stepped in. etc.

So my question is then, How do i go about finding a suitable mentor?

The best way to find a mentor is to ASK. Some people will be too busy. But eventually some will say yes. It all depends on how you ask.

Sometimes right here on this forum you can find a mentor but some are more expensive than others and some offer guarrantees and some dont, i prefer a mentor that lives in my country for one and someone that doesnt take on alot of people, I myself have a mentor and im very happy but he is not taking onboard any others at this time,

The approach I used was first to write down why you want a mentor. The value of this is that it makes you think about what you want out of the relationship. Then as someone else said - ASK !

Cool. I guess I overlooked the most obvious answer. I guess I fell for the stereotype that successful people are inaccessible.

Ill ask some of the more seasoned members around the forum. By the way, do any people in this forum do meetups

I think many could really benefit from having that kind of live suport.

Successful "mentors" can get expensive. VERY expensive
An old biz partner of mine is now 30k a DAY.
      And
You get what you pay for. Here's a rule of thumb (LOTS of exceptions to this, tho):
$1 of mentoring -> $1 of monthly earning

You want to add $5/month? Buy a $5 mentor
You want to add $5,000/month? Good luck getting that kind of mentoring for $50! It's going to cost you.

I agree with what Steve Johnson said, above. Here is something to keep in mind and a way to get that $50,000 mentor. When you're looking for a mentor you're looking for someone to help you and so you are the one asking for the favor. The key to relationship building is to ask the other person, "What can I do for you, how can I help you?" The most important thing here is you have to mean it. Even some of the biggest gurus, business leaders and successful people often need some help with something. Find someone you admire, someone you would like to emulate or model and when you get in touch with them ask them how you can help them.

Successful people are not inaccessible, but you will find that they value their time. That's one of the first lessons in becoming successful, by the way! So you need to be prepared, firstly when you ask, but then each and every time you go to that person. I have been a very successful mentor, and one thing that guarantees none of my time is someone asking the same question over and over, without ever trying to implement what I told them last time. I have all the time in the world for someone who is putting in the effort and has good questions to ask, but none at all for someone who wants to simply make money from my experience with little to no effort.

Having said all that - the second lesson of success is that you have to give to receive! So you will not have any trouble finding a great mentor if you go in prepared and showing that you are ready to put the effort in.

True - if you are looking for a pure mentor. The other approach is to join a strong, mentor based MLM system. Then your mentor makes more money the more successful you become - so they are motivated to help you. My original comments still stand though - they will not do the work for you, but you can get some hugely valuable mentoring with little to no cost to you.

Just check out the MLM before you start...

Umm, if your prospective mentor is EXCLUSIVELY (albeit slyly) suggesting that you join them in a MLM, and they have little else to offer but that...

      RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!

A great mentor, including those who ARE involved in a MLM company, will show you the way to building YOUR OWN BUSINESS, not try to train you as just another company distributor.

Think IM tactics (such as to be found in the forum here), think LEADS FUNNEL DEVELOPMENT, think Social Marketing Tactics, think YOUR OWN PRIVATE funnel monetization strategies that include multiple income streams. If they're going to teach you the same old drivel that has been the corporate mantra of most of these companies for SIXTY YEARS, you should say thanks, but no thanks. On the other hand, someone who "gets" Direct Networking, and is a true professional can take you to ILLEGAL (well, they should be) earning levels in outrageously short amounts of time.

A caveat: it's TOUGH to find a good one.

This can be good advice (the "be wary" part) and HORRIBLE advice as well.

The mentor who STANDS TO BENEFIT from your success is often the most motivated to help you over the hill, and on to the promised land (smiling)

Don't let "what the mentor gets out of the deal" get in the way of your success - you'll still be scratching your head, years from now. Mentors don't do this for their health!

Sorry for taking a long long time to reply. I read and found out alot about cpa and how to get excepted and how to promote using white hat and black hat but the place where I'm stuck at is making a site. Everyone says its easy but i need help with it and I would really really appreciate it if someone helped me. I realize that people who have money use there time very wisely and I would not spend a minute of your time acting stupid and being lazy. So if anyone can help me out let me know. Oh and I have asked alot but I don't get any answers back.

It's not the technical side of creating a website that's challenging - there's lots of books and programs out there to show you that. The tricky part is getting conversions - and for that I totally recommend following someone else's lead! I learnt a lot from my Wealthy Affiliate membership - they take you through setting up a whole affiliate marketing deal, step by step. Even if you don't stay with them - I think you'll learn a lot there!
