The world aint no sunshine and rainbows...

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.

But it ain't about how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth.

But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!

Rocky Balboa

"Indie Game: The Movie" has been a huge inspiration to me.
Also, "The Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith and his son Jaden.

Sometimes life can be tough. But, remember, there are sunshine and rainbows.

  • curly sue, That is a hard hitting, plain spoken quotation from the movie character Rocky Balboa. I always love reading those driving, accusing comments strung together until you "get it". Very nice quotation, cs.

This is the best I could find:

Forrest Gump: My momma always said, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

    Thanks, curly sue.

Life is about choices. We are bombarded with so many choices every day and each day the choices we make can spell out how our future pans out. Accept responsibility for whatever you choose to do out of your own free will.

This quote from Coach Carter has always inspired me:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlighting about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. And as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

I don't know if I would take the pessimistic outlook on life. I love Rocky but IMO the opposite is true.

Life is Great. Life is Grand.

Stop and think about this. Think about how amazing the world you live in is.
    • For the first time in history the knowledge of the whole of humanity is available in the palm of your hand. If you don't think that is amazing look into the loss of knowledge that happened when Alexandra burned.
    • You are likely to live 2 or 3 times (at least) as long as your ancestors did just 300 years ago. At a time when in the past you would be facing death today you are facing touch choices like Disney World or Disney Land.
    • Here in the US you can be completely poor and still have things like cable, cars, and video game systems. I know because I grew up on welfare. Honestly the worst that can happen is damn good if you stop and think about it.
    • You can do pretty much anything you want and get paid for it. I mean there are professional video game players and some of the highest paid people in the world play games that many would consider for kids. Just 150 years ago an artist or musician would never be able to make a living and now some of them make millions every year.
Sure if you let others knock you down life can be hard. But that has more to do with what is between yours ears vs. what is between Mars and Venus.

The world is amazing. All you have to do is open your eyes and gaze upon it.

There isn't sunshine every day. But some of us love a nice cloudy day. After all it can get kind of hot.

There are not rainbows everyday. But some of us would rather it not rain since we drive convertibles. After all who doesn't like the wind in their hair?

This is inspiring on so many levels... especially in being true to yourself. In real life the prison for your mind is the mental story of society...

"I imagine that right now, you’re feeling a bit like Alice. Hmm? Tumbling down the rabbit hole? … I see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that’s not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo? … I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I’m talking about? … Do you want to know what it is?… The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work… when you go to church… when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. … That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind. … Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. … This is your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember, all I’m offering is the truth, nothing more. … Follow me."
