I've never seen .mobi in the top 10, personally. If it's possible, it seems many of us would be amazed!

If you are using .mobi domain to create content that is optimized for .mobile access I think it's very unlikely that google's regular results would rank those urls very well. It would not serve their general end users very well if they serve the low bandwith content that .mobile users want.

Try searching for "dotmobi" without quotes and look at the first domain. Obviously it's a very low competitive keyword, but it still ranks

One thing you must keep in mind is Google loves content. Most mobile sites don't have a lot of content. That is one of the reasons you see mobile sites as part of a .com domain. The content on the the .com gets ranked through relevant content and lots of it. Then you just make sure your mobile directory of the main site has a mobile sitemap saying hey Google look I have mobile content for your viewers. If you didn't already know mobile sitemaps are formatted slightly different from regular sitemaps.

You can only if you have valuable content, images, or videos. Domain name is not the only factor for ranking.

Search "mobi sites" on Google and you will get some .mobi results. .mobi is just another extension and although it is marketed as the domain for mobile optimized sites, not everyone uses it for this purpose and more people prefer m. or /mobile over a .mobi.

.mobi is just an extension of your site. You can rank your site if it has an original content. Just do SEO strategy to make it happen
