    Hey Chuck,

Just from my own experience. My current laptop can kick my older tower's butt, but it's not really a fair comparison.

The laptop has a 17.3 inch screen and an HDMI port that lets me use a 32 inch flat screen as a second monitor, plenty of memory, plenty of hard disk, etc. I also get 4 to 5 hours on one charge to the battery.

And... (this is important to me) I can close it up and take it almost anywhere.

    Something to think about.

Ask more if I can help.

      Oh... less than $350.

You may want to search TigerDirect.com for pricing and other details on computers.

From what I understand, a new tower will be better for lots of reasons including compatibility. I have been on windows 7 for years and when I upgraded, I got a new tower and it was clean, faster and much better,

Yes, if you get a laptop or a PC and Laptop, don't get one of those small screen ones, they will drive you around the bend!

I have the largest screen size, l think that it is, 17" Laptop and with windows 7, (known for it's small text) which is ok, for most things, but a smaller one, eventhough more portable, would be a nightmare!

I just got a powerful laptop from Semilton store recently, and a 27 inch monitor. I do that because mobility is really important in my case.

Desktop computers are usually less costly overall and present a better overall value. We could not suffer any battery problem using desktop computer.

The one and only reason I would get a laptop is if I anticipate needing a computer somewhere away from my home office. My current desktop cost about $450 (not including the monitor, since I have 2 already) and for my needs is way more than I really needed. I don't do heavy video stuff, etc. nor do I play games on it.

I am fortunate now to be able to ALSO have a laptop for the couple of times per year I attend I.M. gatherings.
