You look beautiful as heck from where I'm sitting, KS. Although if my wife asks - I didn't say that!

I think a lot of the time, folks are either having a bad day or they're just pretty rotten, unpleasant people who like spreading negativity - because they're so negative themselves.

BTW - I watch a lot of instructional videos. You're very good in front of the camera - nice and relaxed and a great communicator.

    Cheers,

You just need to tell them what I tell them. "The camera adds 35 pounds." I don't know if they buy it, but it sure makes me feel better.

I have also come to realize that I am too ugly for TV or video - so I stick to radio. :-)

Good one! LOL It took me like a year of doing slideshow and screen capture videos before I'd put myself on camera. But after spending countless hours watching videos and seeing what other people look like, I said oh, what the heck - Just do it!

    Don't feel bad at all!

That just shows that that person has no concept of reality anymore and is living in cyberspace.

I mean not recognizing a last name and thinking it's a made up handle for the net shows zero intelligence in the real world.

Exactly! Recently, I had some dude going around YouTube commenting on OTHER PEOPLE'S videos where I'd commented saying, 'This person is a known racist.'

I was like - WTF??? But then after Bill Whittle did a really cool video that I commented on, it stopped. I was like - There, Take That!!! LOL

I'll have to find that video because it was really cool. It's PJMedia on YouTube, one of the Trifecta episodes with Bill Whittle, Steven Green and Scott Ott.

Yeah, anyway. Cyberspace is full of "trolls" and some of them are more than likely kids who have too much time on their hands after mom and dad leave for work.

You might be correct that that person is not directly a racist, but even pointing out That KSMusselman is white took it to a race related topic. Showing not only his/her inability to read but also his focus on "surface material" like the color of someones skin.

I can free admit... I from time to time troll on youtube comments. I have been in the thick with a lot of these, well, animals. I have come to believe that Youtube uses some kind of algorithm that forces viewers to shut off their brains and access the deepest recesses of the amygdala

Check out his discussion page. This "person" just attracts and spews negativity on a daily basis. So, meh. Realize that he/she has to wake up each day and face the world with such negativity... Believe me, this person is not happy at all.

Yes, it is - but many wouldn't see it that way when "white" is the word used.

More than that - it's just plain stupid. What an empty life that person must have.

I agree with Tom and Kaye.

And I will add that the internet and particularly Social Media in the last 10 years has made it easy for people to bring out the "dark" side of humanity.

          It really has.

You get kids and online sociopaths and everything in between getting their rocks off by hurling insults and calling people names. And there is no repercussions in doing so.

Before the internet out in the public, there were Checks and Balances that stifled this crap .

If you acted like this in a Bar and restaurant you would get the sh@t knocked out of you.

So social media has enabled these people to really let their perversity shine without consequences

P.S.Karen, You are a beautiful person. You have very nice features .
A-holes will find anything they can on a person doing a video and magnify and exaggerate 100 times more than it really is just to feed their sickness and insanity!

Yeah I wouldn't see it that way and I'm white. If somebody described me as a white bloke then they'd be correct, not a racist.

I think the point here is that race didn't need to be mentioned because it was a comment on a video. Race is obvious. Thus, it makes the comment seem derogatory.

Sure, it could be receiver error, but, considering the negative nature of the rest of the comment, it was probably meant in negative fashion.

            Rubbish.

Wrong: Rocky Balboa, a white small-time boxer gets a supremely rare chance to fight the black heavy-weight champion, Apollo Creed, in a bout in which he strives to go the distance for his self-respect.

Right: Rocky Balboa, a small-time boxer gets a supremely rare chance to fight the heavy-weight champion, Apollo Creed, in a bout in which he strives to go the distance for his self-respect.

This is basic English grammar. By employing white or black to describe a person, you're assigning significance to their ethnicity. If there exists a good reason for doing so, in the context, then it cannot be called racism. Otherwise, it most assuredly can.

As an example of non-racist usage:

In the antebellum United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery.

It is vital to assign his race in the context above. And why? Because during a time of slavery for African Americans, this man was free. This being the "high concept" for the movie in question, 12 Years a Slave.

            Cheers,

            Tom

      This is a good point.

I'm not sure when exactly the tide turned, but I'm guessing 15 years or more. I remember how it used to be online. You'd wander onto a social setting - forum, chat room, group, IRC, whatever - and it was a bit like walking into your regular bar. And, just like in the bar, that one in real life, the typical patrons wouldn't wander over and for no reason and randomly hurl insults. In real life, only crazies do that. Nowadays, unpleasantness is the norm. Back then - it stood out like a sore thumb. I think people had been so used to the "real" for the past several million years, they were unused to the potential freedom afforded by anonymity. Quaint and cute, in a way!

I wouldn't turn back the clock, though. Dial-up modems? No thankee!

Youtube is full of Internet Trolls. Make videos and you will get comments from them. It's a fairly common, ordinary Internet problem and hardly worth a big race discussion over some troll calling you ... UGH ... white. They didn't even use the derogatory Cracker term. lol.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have solved the riddle.

I suspect the person in question has some spelling issues. I made the school boy error of typing into Google "Ken the Muscle Man" and came up with the real life Ken from the Barbie and Ken doll thingy's, here he is and if he was hoping for some sordid video of Ken the Barbie doll, perhaps that's where the confusion arose.

      There, problem solved.

That is supposed to be a real life ken doll? FORGET IT! I have SEEN ken! I had a friend once that PLAYED with ken dolls! She was a girl, OK guys? That guy is NOT ken!

As to ksmusselman? MUSCLE is spelled wrong, so I always figured it was a last name or some such. Referring to a person as white like that is NOT really descriptive and either tries to separate her from what was expected or it is racist. OK, I went to google. You know who takes almost the entire first page, and has HER pictures showing as THE person? The ksmusselman that is here! There is another, and she is ALSO white, and female!

OK, so we can assume that a white person did not say that and thus, by applying EVERY description THEY have EVER used, the comment was RACIST! They can't even say it doesn't apply because SHE is white. SHE is a SHE and thus even THAT idiotic exclusion is made invalid.

I guess I have been lucky. I don't think anyone has ever called me fat. I think I actually look OK with the fat I have, though I have lost 45 pounds this year, and hope to lose 20-30 more. And I try to never call another person fat. HECK, I saw a person on the elevator yesterday that was EASILY twice my girth, and a foot shorter, so you can imagine the size difference. I felt like asking him what he weighed, but I kept silent.

But yeah, if he mentioned that for no reason, you have to wonder about the guy. People will try to pull you apart in every way. The more public you are, the more obvious it will become. I saw a show recently. The episode was about a girl, that was heavy set and not so pretty, getting the part of a pretty girl in a school play. Someone anonymously harassed her calling her fat and ugly. At the end of the show the main characters came out as themselves, and spoke of all the harassment they REALLY get! ONE guy, for example, does NOT seem dumb in real life, and he has a lot of talent. He is the lead of a group that obviously has talent(They write, sing, and play their own songs), is internationally known, etc..., people consider him attractive and love him, etc... One note HE got was that he was STUPID, UGLY, and had NO TALENT! They ALL got similar things, though ironically his covered EVERYTHING!

I don't think the person was against any race, they just said white lady. Same is if she was Irish, they would have probably said Irish lady, doesn't make it a racist comment.
