I took Lexi to the vet yesterday for part 2 of her Lyme's Disease vaccination and her rabies vaccination and her last puppy well check.

She weighs a whopping 17.8 pounds!! She's only 16 weeks!!

Everybody there from the vet, to the vet tech to the receptionists were shocked at her size!

Then the doctor told me I should start preparing to have a 40 pound dog! She said it was just a guess of course, but with a rescue, you could never be sure. What the heck?

What happened to my 20 to 25 pounds tops doggie?

Ah well, I'm sure you all know that I will love her regardless of how big she gets!

40 pounds is still basically a hamster. You'll be fine.

Terra, I feel your sense of amazement. Didn't think our little pup was going to grow into the size she did. My sons can pick her up, I can't. Rescues can certainly come with breed and size surprises.

My brother adopted a "shepherd" mix puppy. Sure looked that way at first, too.
It turned out that he was probably mixed with a Great Dane.
Opie ended up about waste high at the shoulder and about 100 lbs.
So lean at the stomach, I thought he might have been part Greyhound.

I've been hearing a lot of stories just like you guys'.

Anyway, her vet thinks there may be some golden lab in her. I like golden labs, my sister has two, so that won't be too bad, I think.

She's not a rescue dog, she's a dog who rescues.

That particular commercial was aired during the Super Bowl in 2014.

I sure hope not, but with PETA, one can never know. They're fanatics!

Our rescued husky/chow was supposed to top out at 40 pounds.

Three years later, he is 60 pounds and still growing.

      Wow!

      Three years and still growing?

I thought they were supposed to stop growing at 12 to 13 months.

Its all Claudes fault, l kept telling him not to feed radioactive dunuts to Lexi, but would he listen to me, nooooooooooooooooo!

Don't know where he got the eating people habit from? Probably too many scouts with cookies, at the front door?

I'm sure that's a mailman Lexi's eating and it's because Claude mailed himself some donuts in order to save some for later, haha!

This all reminds me of how majorly Munchie over grew. He was the biggest rot I have ever seen.

We were in the parking lot of a state park one day and a man came up to us and was just all over about what a beautiful dog I had.

Then he said "And I'm a vet so I know what I'm saying".
The ensuing conversation went like this:
ME:"Oh, wow, maybe you can tell me then what I can do to help him with his car sickness."
VET: "He should have grown out of that at five months."
ME: "Oh good, he might just grow out of it then?"
VET: "Not likely. They usually do by 5 months if they're going to."
ME: "Yes. So I can still hope he does."
VET: "How old IS that dog?"
    ME: "Almost 4 months."
    VET: "OH MY GOD."

Isn't it nice to get compliments on your doggie? I love it!
