My favorite of the day is this.

See how the other guy happened to be in the right place at the right time and answer in 2 minutes.

  • Sig links like hers and she does not know about affiliate marketing? hmmmmmmmm
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The main forum seems to be going through one of its "dumb" spasms...a week or so ago there were threads I could respond to, but nothing right now.

    It comes in waves.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • The frustrating thing is that some of us still get sucked into trying to help for whatever reason. In this case, it was quickly apparent to me that she wasn't going to do any research on her own so I dropped it as soon as I woke up to the reality of more wasted time.

Sometimes it seems "RTFM" answers aren't called for. Most of the time, in retrospect, that's exactly what was needed.

It sucks trying to be helpful sometimes. Oh well...

  • Wow, Im sorry but NOT everyone can do this ( IM ) and NOT just anyone should even try doing this stuff.

    This is a perfect example.

  • Time To Do Something

It is clear that many of us can see the escalation of problems in the Main forum. I recall Kay creating a thread in Offline about it and now we have this one by Dan. I'm sure others have created similar threads and I know a great many of us are aware of the problems. I must admit, posting on other forums as I do, where such problems are rife, it was water off a duck's back for me. I just didn't care all that much. When I saw the problems it was a case of, "Well, just another day at the office." But here's the thing, and I mean no offense by it: I've noticed recently that a great many of our members are not clued up about the potential dangers, and I'm talking even experienced marketers here, and this is I think cause for concern. It is, in my opinion, time to do something.

    Example: Download His Links

It is no secret that the threads in Main that get the most views, the most engagement, are any threads with titles that use currency amounts or, better, promise to offer a method to earn certain levels of currency. Yesterday, one such thread arrived. The OP, new account, posted 2 download links to his method instead of writing about it in his post. I reported it, since instinct told me he was up to no good. The thread was deleted. Today, I'm 99% sure the same person, under a different account, is at it again. Except now he isn't posting links, he's fishing for PMs, that I suspect he will reply to and furnish with links. What prompted my post here is the experienced members in his thread who seem unaware of the situation; if these people are unaware, then surely the newbies are equally unaware.

    Problems on Main

I'm going to highlight some of the problems that currently spring to mind. I'm just waking up here, so you'll have to excuse me if I overlook anything.

    1. Members responding to the same thread subjects with versions of the same spun article. If you look at PPL threads, for instance, you'll see one such person. He has around a 600-word article that he posts in different forms; and I've noted 2 occasions where it was posted in exactly the same form; perhaps more exist.

    2. Bot spam. These are easy to spot: the thread title and content is entirely unrelated to the subject-matter of Main and the post itself contains links.

    3. Human Spam. Harder to spot. In these threads, the OP or poster uses several tactics:

    - Dropping relevant links;
    - Fishing for PMs;
    - Generating interest in his/ her specific business, yet providing no value, and hoping for sig clicks.
    - Pieces of spun articles.

    4. Thread bumping.

    5. Lack of English literacy. I have no problem whatsoever with people of all nationalities using Warrior Forum. That should go without saying. No prejudice here. It is, however, an English-speaking community. A vast proportion of the threads being created are thrown together with broken English. This often turns the first page of Main into a wall of gobbledygook, where the original post within each one is almost impossible for anyone to decipher, and therefore meaningfully answer.

    6. Weak threads. Many threads seem to be thrown together in seconds. In sum they amount to hastily written one-liners, pleas for information that can easily be found by searching, immature subject-matter that is unworthy of intelligence discourse, threads of a similar or an exact nature being repeated by the same members. One word describes such threads: Lazy. Now, it may seem extreme to target lazy people with wrongdoing, but consider the cumulative effect. We often have a wall of information that destroys what should be a place of sensible discussion.

    7. "Like Me" Threads. I'll tell you something: I could probably post a thread on Main today and have 99% of the people reading it give me the thumbs up. Even the trolls, or people who simply might not like the Limey, would avoid making negative comment. How? Because I know, as you do, what the majority here find favorable. But what's the problem with this? People are only being told what they want, NOT what they need to be told. I see the same people, day in, day out, who everyone unanimously adores, creating threads (articles) that state what everyone either likes to hear or the type of "friendly" information that few will object to receiving. I feel like giving many of them a Captain Obvious t-shirt. Rarely do we see a thread with new information or challenging information or truly worthwhile information. Look at my own threads. I've given up trying to create worthwhile threads. The usual trolls or "neg heads" will jump in with their negative one-liners and kill them. Either that or the threads will get deleted. But consider the posts I make within threads, and by all means click on my past posts and take a look. Read between the lines. Does it appear that I have the capacity to offer some worthwhile threads? I believe I can. But I hold back and I expect I'm one of thousands. Instead, we're left with wall upon wall of "Like Me" threads.

    8. I noticed Jason Kanigan say in an Offline post yesterday - words to the effect - that he currently refrains from posting much in Main. And yet this is a man I want to read. I often skim through posts looking for his name, his name and a few others. The problems I'm speaking about are acting as a deterrent to the addition of value, then. If Jason posts less, then surely others do, too. Is it any wonder why many of the knowledgeable members (mostly here before my time) have picked up sticks and left? Why would the likes of these men and women concern themselves with trifling subjects being discussed ad infinitum, with walls of gobbledygook, with tsunamis of Captain Obvious threads, and why would they even attempt for a moment to share worth amid a sea of human and automated spam? I can only speak for myself, but I "currently" put up with it because I believe WF is still, despite the flaws, the place for a serious marketer to post. Each week, though, the flaws slowly eat away at what many of us hold in high esteem. Soon it might be time for Jason to take off, and others just like him. (Apologies for singling you out here, Jason.)

    9. Experience, Hard to Share. If I had a link in my signature that points people to a website about generating an income from Virtual Worlds, for instance, I literally could not create a thread that remotely offers members here an insight into the business. Which is terrible. I would have insights to offer. Being an expert in such a field, it would seem only logical for me to offer those insights. Not out of the kindness of my heart, it goes without saying, but that still would not detract from the worthwhile nature of the information. There is a world of difference between someone posting a lame thread related to their signature and a true expert sharing worthwhile information in their field. However, if these threads are not deleted, they receive negativity from those who - I can only assume - feel that sharing good information to strengthen one's brand or boost one's business is somehow wrong.

    10. Trolling. A great degree of trolling appears to remain unchecked and it represents a great problem. Sensible information can often not be shared due to unwarranted negativity turning the discussion into what amounts to argument. This only fuels the useless "Like Me" threads, since to argue on WF is to appear unprofessional, and none of us wish to be perceived as such. A realistic perspective is one thing, and a good thing, since it does reduce much of the silliness (and Kay is one such person who brings this service to the forum), but inane negativity has literally lead to a situation where I suspect our more intelligent and informed members "tread carefully" and post only what will likely garner the usual virtual head nods of approval. I could post a thread today about how newbies should use the search function before asking the same questions day in and day out. I would garner 20 thanks. But what if I chose to create a thread on a subject outside of what I suspect would garner universal approval? How about a thread with a moneymaking method, for instance? Trolls would be all over it. Arguments would ensue. The worth of the original content would come under question. And, yet again, no one would learn anything.

    Do Something?

I have about as much clout on WF as a stray cat with fleas. I notice that I've earned the respect of a few members here, which really means a great deal to me, but when it comes to clout, zilch. Unchecked, the problems I mention above (and surely many I didn't think to mention) will only get worse. If anyone has a voice that will be heard by the right people, I strongly suggest you use that voice. In the meantime, I suggest those of us who care about the issues help the moderators as much as we can. They do a fine job, our moderators, but in many ways the situation here is a little like this: Warrior Forum is a boat springing leaks and only so many hands are available to plug them up. Yet every day, more holes appear.

    • Tom,

You have to understand that most of the people here(myself included) are NOT making any money!

That is where the negativity comes from, a lack of personal success.

People can deny it all they want but all of the 'tough love' and 'reality checkers' are all talk and are barely surviving.

They are stressed and disillusioned and want other people to feel the same way. It burns them inside when they see a newcomer come and try to 'make it'. They don't want them to do something they haven't done for themselves.

I guarantee you if we were to take a personal poll of every regular who hands out 'reality checks' that we would find that most of them aren't raking in the big bucks.

Those people will never achieve financial fame and recognition. All they can do is come here and gossip about meaningless stuff.

I do the same thing to, and I will admit it.

I don't care what people think of me after this post, or what they thought of me before.

I'm not here to be popular or to impress people. I'm here for myself and to have fun.

Too many people take this place, and themselves too seriously. They think they 'know it all' and have 'heard it all' before when in reality they don't know what they are talking about.

They have such inflated egos from the amount of time they have been on this forum that they don't even realize how much they contribute to the problem.

They are Gods and Gurus in their own heads from all the self-congratulatory circle-jerking they do all day. But, none of their accomplishments warrants such an attitude.

If you aren't successful, that is fine, if you lack the ability to achieve great wealth, that is fine as well, but at-least admit that you are a failure in life.

I have failed many times in life, I am poor, and I will fail many more times.

I will admit it, I will get laughed at, and I won't give two farts about it.

Can't say the same for the other people here.

They wouldn't have the balls to come out and admit their envy, and arrogance.

No one has a voice here any longer Tom. No one has clout except the freelancer staff. They are calling all the shots and that is exactly why the forum is the way the forum is now. At this point, there's not much anyone can do to save this forum. It's just a matter of time before the "board" says to pull the plug because it will be a money drain rather than the busy, profitable site it used to be.

I still do report infractions, but mostly because I hate spammers rather than any sort of community involvement. Nothing you or I do will help to save this forum any more than anyone could have prevented the Titanic from sinking.

    • Urm, I disagree, Claude. Personally, I plan on living until I'm 90. (I'm 50 now.) If you decided to share that goal, you'd see that you still have half as many years ahead of you as you've already crossed behind you.

      LOL!!

  • This one is good too: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...s-grow-up.html

Maybe the mod called in sick or something but it seems like both users should be banned but nothing has happened.

It's also interesting noting that a couple of the last posters apparently didn't read the thread before sharing their wisdom. If they had, I'm not sure they would have posted the way they did since the guy is obviously a scammer. If you look at the alter ego's history you'll see where he admits he's not making the money promised in his sig but it's not a lie because he hasn't gotten enough traffic yet.
