Hello,

First things first ---> Happy Mother's Day!

I think at this point almost all of us have noticed a serious decline in WF traffic over the past few years --> but today I see the traffic has hit a modern-day low-water mark. These are the puniest numbers that I have noticed since I've been checking in here:

Main Forum - 325
WSO Section - 797
War Room - 19
SEO - 113
AD Networks - 65
PPC - 13
Email Marketing - 15
Growth Hacking - 5
Social Media - 43
Conversions - 4
Offline Marketing - 43
Copywriting - 18
Ecom - 23
Mind Warriors -28
Reviews - 53
Contests -4
Freemarket - 0
WBC - 2
Video Forum - 2
Viral Traffic - 0
Programming - 9
Web Design - 32
Resources - 5
Links - 5
JV - 17
OT - 28
Meetups - 2
Help - 5
News - 3

Active - 412 Members and 2308 guests.

FWIW, I believe the member session information is still being recorded the same way as it was prior to FL taking over. Just a couple short years ago WSO traffic was averaging about 5500+ visitors on weekdays and 4750+ on weekend days.

Today --> 795 visitors in the WSO section and only 325 in the Main Marketing Forum. The total forum visitors number is also as low as I've seen it at 412 active members and 2308 visitors. Last Mother's Day numbers were 1060 members and 9065 guests. I don't have any stats for Mother's Day in 2014, but for the record, the Sunday following had 1862 members and 22,085 guests. That number includes 5101 in the WSO section and 1979 in the Main marketing section.

Houston, this is a very serious problem ---> FL, as you must know, you need to get the traffic exodus problem under control ASAP. Without a lot of quality content being posted, and with little quality control being exerted by the mod team, this baby feels a bit like a sinking ship, rapidly descending deeper into the cold dark abyss.

Cheers

    It's not surprising.
There isn't much worth reading these days.
Just a lot of junk posting to get a sig file seen.

It looks like I'm a bit late getting back to my own party - in at 146. I had reported serious intermittent latency issues a couple of times over the past few weeks, I guess she finally decided to take a nap.

    Seriously?

You don't think the fact that Warrior Forum was showing a 503 error for 17 hours had anything to do with a decline in traffic numbers?

I got caught all day in that 503 error too. I first encountered it at around 7:00 am central time and it continued until I closed the lid on my laptop at around 9:00 pm. I reported it to the Help Desk, they told me they were aware of the problem and told me to fix it by clearing my cookies. Haha

      Erhmmm...

I created this thread at 10:39 AM, yesterday, and many members were posting all night long and during the early morning hours, prior to me posting this thread at 10:39 AM yesterday.

Check a few of the time stamps from different thread bumps in the main forum::

As you can easily see, many regulars including Kay, Steve B., John McCabe, and Profit Traveler and others all successfully posted during the early morning hours of the 8th.

The forum was not down for 17 hours prior to me posting this thread yesterday, it was up for plenty of people as the record clearly shows. Did some peeps see an issue between 7-8:30 AM yesterday, it's possible. What was the forum status after I posted this thread? Read on...

The first and last outage that I personally saw occurred somewhere between 8.30-11:00PM CST last night. As the graphic below indicates, WF was successfully pinged several times (from somewhere) throughout the day yesterday (PST).

As you can see, yesterday's average ping times were substantially longer than the month or so previous...

FWIW, at 23:14:19 last night the numbers looked like this:

Yesterday, I successfully posted to WF threads at (CST):

      10:39 AM
      11:15 AM
      11:31 AM
      11:38 AM
      12:14 PM
      3:42 PM

I had no posting issues, whatsoever.

Personally, I saw no errors, and had no issues until I checked the forum after I had left my desk - which was sometime in the late evening or night hours. As I mentioned above, I had already made multiple reports of 10-25 seconds latency (intermittent) on some page loads during the past month.

All I know is my hops were good, and the forum loaded every time I browsed or posted yesterday...until the forum crashed hard and had to be rebooted last night. Apparently, the servers were inaccessible for some peeps, but not for others during the day yesterday.

I think WF may have developed a serious cache problem and/or possibly some iffy DNS issues over the past couple of months. Below are a few tips from the isitdownrightnow site that may help if someone is unable to access a site, but yet some others do have access.

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

      Browser Related Problems:

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favorite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page
      .
      Fix DNS Problems:

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter).

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.
FWIW, yesterday I was using Mediacom's DNS servers, which usually are not the quickest to update by any stretch of the imagination.

Here is what the last 24 hours of ping times look like for Warrior Forum, the long lines indicate the times WF was basically inaccessible to the pinger:

It is possible that some of the members that were continually seeing 503 pages throughout the day yesterday may have been loading a cached 503 page.

The good news is --> WF appears to be up for most of it's members today.

      Cheers

Yes, when l checked Alexa, it showed 50% traffic from India, so l wouldn't expect the traffic to go up anytime soon.

That was a while ago, but from what l have seen, traffic reflects posting quality.

Well, that and no one having the nerve to post anything out there.

Are you saying if the forum wasn't down for YOU it wasn't down for anyone? Surely not!

I posted on the WF early yesterday AM - didn't try again until late afternoon when I got nothing but 503 errors and gave up yesterday evening.

I think WF may have developed a serious cache problem and/or possibly some iffy DNS issues over the past couple of months.
But...I don't care. It's not my site - not up to me to solve the problems. If I get an error I go do something else. Problem solved.

Cmon now, we know 87% of the forum was lying about the 503 errors.

This is a classic warrior forum bitchy thread. Feels like old times. But it's way too short. This is the best evidence that less people are listening. This topic with appropriate jargon, diagrams and screen shots should be about three pages long by now.

What were your other sources, in addition to Alexa? I agree that that last one is interesting, especially as it doesn't even show Google, which I would expect, given Alexa's opinion of the search terms that bring people in.

SimilarWeb says 49.8% is search traffic...

    Another "sorta" interesting one...

The top screenshot in post #20 is from TrafficEstimate.com (2004)...possibly wildly inaccurate, but the steep decline they show matches the Alexa screenshots almost perfectly. The rest of the data is SimilarWeb's. SimilarWeb's basic pro plan runs $199 a month, the better plans are sold on a "contact us" basis.

    https://www.similarweb.com/website/warriorforum.com

Obviously, Alexa and SimilarWeb's analysis are quite different in many data categories.
