What I was asking about is personal marketer blogs. Blogs in a marketers name. Blogs where they post about business as well as what they are doing. Going camping, reading a new book. In other words, blogs marketers run so you get to know them on a personal level.

Not company blogs, sales sites and blogs only selling stuff.

          Hope that explains it better.

I like to know who I am buying and learning from. If I don't know about them I sure don't trust them.

Guess you just trust people. That's cool. Just not what I do.

I don't trust anyone on the Internet and reading about their hobbies, favorite foods, political leanings or favorite vacation spots won't do anything to build trust, since there is no way of knowing if anything they say, as in a single, solitary word - is true.

Just like I don't know if the name they are using is their real name, the testimonials on their site are real or not and if the displayed members of their 'team,' actually exist.

Think about what you are saying. lol

I have and it's your loss, not mine. I actually meet many marketers in person and become friends with them. Guess who's products I market to my lists? The ones I get to know and trust.

Guess who's stuff I would never promote to my lists?

            I kinda doubt that.

I'm a bit more discerning about who I'm seen in public with. :-) We are judged by the company we keep.

But that must be very limiting. Somehow I think you'll trust anyone, as long as you can make a buck.

If I had 'stuff,' guess who I'd never let promote it? :-)

Cool post. You win, I bow to your greater mind. Now let's get back to the actual topic and keep it on topic. You already won. You changed my mind and I see the error in my ways.

He has written and produced lots of material on meeting women...He did it under the name David DeAngelo.

I've seen him on stage and he knows marketing well. I haven't bought any of his products though.

OK, that was pretty good...and took me a minute to get.

                        One thing about Marketing Gurus.....

Some soley make their money as a consultant and selling information products from the stage. In other words, that's how they started. Their marketing knowledge is derived from marketing their products on stage and online.

Other marketing gurus hav a core business that they excelled in, and now are taking what they learned in their core business and are now teaching it.

Ryan Deiss is one of the rare people that run a core business, and teach what they have learned in their own business.

Dan Kennedy is a great example of someone who started as a marketing consultant. And although his knowledge is profound, it mostly came from his clients...who had their own core business.

One thing that stands out to me is that I get the best marketing lessons by reading the offers (in print mostly) made by these guys. Studying what they do...teaches you in the most practical way how to market. Study pitches.

For example, I have maybe 100 sales letters selling a seminar on how to sell. These were all successful. And frankly, these are the best ways to learn what works.

One o the single best lessons I ever had in selling was listening to a friend's (you know who you are) phone pitch. Absolute gold.

Want to learn how to sell (besides just selling), listen to pitches.
