Ocean 8, was my last one, and eventhough remakes with an all female cast can be a dud, (Ghostbusters a good example) this was actually pretty good.

Worth watching, renting, and maybe buying.

Ok, genre, Oceans 11, type format, (crime/black comedy) based around a heist in Paris, well thought out storyline, and leaves the last ghosties in the dust.

              Riffle can't trot. Short legs.

Dan; Really, you'll love this movie. Plenty of twists in the plot (a big one you probably already know), lots of humor, and lots of action.

My prayers go with you Dan.

Tried to watch Toy Story 4, recently, but the school holidays had started in AU, (we don't bother with that 4th July guff) and even a 12.50pm session was almost full.

I wasn't going to sit up the third row from the front, and wasn't going to go and see it after having missed the first few minutes.

And the Pixar cartoon at the start,....can't miss those.

I haven't seen Spiderman yet. I'm looking forward to watching it.

The last movie that I watched was Avengers Endgame. It was an excellent movie. I'm a huge Captain America fan

Has anyone seen the new Spiderman movie?

I saw American Sniper. It was good.

          Last one, Silent Running, 1972.

          https://www.google.com.au/search?sou...10.-yL_xxQUD9E

Still a great movie, and a movie that thankfully cannot be remade, not without destroying it.

My brother recently went on a working tour of the US, and chatted to Douglas Trumbull, the director of that movie.

I also told him to bring some US currency back with him, since l always enjoy a good laugh.

Au currency is much better since it is plastic and bounces more, (l found $50 a few days ago near my car, which pinged out of most likely a womans purse) and obviously left my details in case a cold stricken pensioner dropped it, but l should be in the clear.

Probably take a look at this one tonight.

I missed the IMAX one, sniff.

And after seeing my brother recently, he did mention that the producer of Silent Running, 1972, may do a remake, IF, he gets the funding together.

Not crazy about that idea, since remakes tend to not work.

And l also learned don't drive on the wrong side of the road and approach a roundabout when jetlagged.

I'd never heard of Silent Running so I looked it up. Here's the opening line from its Wikipedia entry:

Silent Running is a 1972 environmental-themed American post-apocalyptic science fiction film
I also looked up information on the remake.

Silent Running (1972) is a sci-fi classic with a strong environmental message. The Earth is no longer viable for plant life, the forests have been put into domes on giant space crafts in the hopes of one day bringing them back to Earth. But with corporate interference the project is scraped and the ships are ordered to destroy the domes returning the space crafts to commercial service. One man (Bruce Dern) takes it upon himself to protect the last forests of Earth. The message of Silent Running seems more important than ever and Invasion of the Remake puts it through their patented remake treatment to try and make it more relevant for today's audiences.
            https://invasionoftheremake.libsyn.c...bVSejPocMRs.99

            And this:

Few sci-Fi films manage to approach delicate subject matters with as much decorum and emotion as the 1972 space adventure Silent Running. The environmental messages that film brings is just as relevant today as it was back in the 70's. With a global effort to save our planet from the destruction seen in the film, a re-make would resonate much more NOW then ever before.

Now that I know about this film, I'll look out for it. Looking forward to the remake as well.

Just finished watching Apollo 11, and blown away pretty much covers it.

          An easy 9/10.

It was just like being there, eventhough l live in Australia, and was three at the time.

And l did try to watch some commercial station version, but it was mainly chatter and enough videos of the actual rocket, etc, to stop viewers from falling asleep, (usual crap in other words).

Yes, grew up with that one, with Soylent Green, Omega Man and Planet of the Apes of course. The 70's was the Renaissance of Clever Sci Fi.

Universal had a big win with a movie about bike riders, (can't remember the name) beforehand, eventhough the budget was tiny, so offered 5 million, (a million each) to 5 producers to do whatever they wanted just as long as it was under a million dollars, (or a cheap budget in the 70's.

Silent running was one of them and was a big hit, and no wonder with a great soundtrack, believable models and good storyline.

But blowing up the fluffy bunnies, pffft, well l still like it.

No, his style is to go to his nearest Savers Store, (or Salvation) and spend hours sifting through large bins of DVD's hoping to find a copy.

All clothing at the Salvos is thoroughly washed and cleaned before it goes on sale. And yes, I do buy dvds and books from there sometimes. Not often, but sometimes. You can get stuff which isn't available anymore so there's a good reason to do it. Plus the money goes to help those less fortunate.

How interesting. It seems that the Garden Gnome fraternity has teamed up with the 50 Year Olds Who Live With Their Mums Brigade to do battle with me. The only way to interpret that is that by themselves they can't win.

Not on Amazon Australia. It is available on YouTube though for $3.99.

It isn't a high priority though. I just bought a stack of dvds from JBHiFi and will be watching those before I get around to that. Then after that I've got every James Bond movie to watch in succession on Stan. Then, just to see what all the fuss is about, every film in the Marvel Super Hero Universe is also on Stan. Although I refuse to watch anything that involves insect or arachnid men (Ants and Spiders), nor anything where a nerdy guy turns into a big green hulk when angered. Those are a bridge too far.

Well, half way through and l hate to say it, but it isn't bad, at least not as a rental, but enduring this for three hours in a cinema, phew nope.

The storyline doesn't make much sence so far considering that the first movie could have done what they are doing now, since Doctor Strange could have done something similar?

But without blowing it, l guess they will come up with something?

Back to the Future, lol, blasphemy.

But l am sure l will hate it after watching the whole thing, least l hope so, lol,

Phew, watched it all, and it had a good story, obviously poured on the visuals, spared no expense, and let's just say that Dr Strange putting up his finger at the end, sucked big time.

And dragging out the end with the fu,.....umm, serious bit, and the family reunion, was fine by me, since l was watching it over two nights, but people sitting in the same chair with a drink in a theatre for 3 hours, poor ba****ts, is all l can say.

Watched last night. Avengers End Game. A long but excellent movie. No one told me there was time travel in it either which made it more appealing.

            Comments:

One would have thought that the Supergirl type character would have been able to punch the adversary into oblivion. I wonder how he would have fared against Superman?

It sets the stage for other characters taking over some roles. This goes outside the boundaries of Marvel comics.Sacrilege.

It should have ended after the climactic scene with just a brief view of normality. But then, the fate of one more character passing on his device of battle would not have happened.

Just being cryptic for those who have not seen.

Interesting CGI showing an out of condition Thor.

No, the supergirl, one going for the big guy with the glove, would be toast as he only needs to click his fingers and she is gone.

And the timeline being reset so the green lady hates someone again, was, well annoying.

And someone who will remain nameless, may come back, as someone who can fix things may show up when his wife is discussing taking a nap, (freezed him, zap him with something, etc).

Thor was wearing a fat suit. And the actor insisted that he not lose the weight at the end of the movie. It was a good choice, it's funnier that way.

One thing that bugs me about nearly every super hero movie is the inconsistency of the character's power levels.

For example, we see Captain America fighting regular guys, and then throwing a motorcycle. Aquaman lifts a submarine out of the water....but fights regular guys without killing them.

You see Spider-man matching strength with Thanos, but you see Thanos beating the Hulk. The Hulk is hundreds of times stronger than Spider-man.

You see Captain America actually going head to head with Thanos. And even when these people get hit by a punch that would kill anyone 100 times their strength...they suffer no injuries, and come back for more.

Of course, if all the characters just had the strength levels in the comics, and it was consistent...the fight would be over in a few seconds. Some of these characters have the power to destroy worlds.

This is an example of fluctuating levels of power.

Sometimes, you come across as 1% as powerful as I am......and at other times, you come across as 5% as powerful. There is no consistency.

Agreed, l made the mistake of watching Captain America, at home, and l was literally falling asleep during the boring, stealth wing, giant plane thingy.

But l have to admit that all fight scenes with superhero's bore me to tears, since as Claude has hinted, they can take a lot, and it is like two blobs on a plate having it out, dull.

But true Avengers - Endgame had a good story, great visuals, poor temporal mechanic scenaros, (super hero outcomes, l hate it when someone goes back in time and dogs breakfasts character development).

And removing something,....well, l can't say much, but it sucked, big time.

One I have missed, the simplest of time travel, no SFX.. A loving father sits his son down aged 21 and tells him in their whole family line, it is passed on that the males have the ability to travel in time. If you go to a cupboard or dark place, clench your fists you will emerge wherever you want to be and at any time in the past. And of course you can come back at the point you left but not the future. No duplicates here. You just re-occupy yourself.

The son tries it and it works....

Well I will leave it there.

Perhaps the wrong impression. It's a tongue in cheek, humorous, quintessentially British movie with none of the pretensions of big budget hollywood Sifi. A love story with a twist. Bill Nighy is the father.

Yes, Mark, l get British satire, after all we are connected to England, and l just finished watching The Italian Job, but l think that it was the idea of a 21 year old, male going into a dark closet, and time travelling, that has several interpretations.

The most obvious being going to the moon, although he would probably need a torch and appropriate literature to, (l won't use that word) umm, achieve that end.

It would not have been my choice but due to my friend looking after her 8 year old grandson for the weekend.

Toy Story 4, great movie as always, and a spin at the end, no one saw coming.

The dolls in the antique shop, seriously scary, lol.

And the animation at the start with the rain, impressive for anyone who has an interest in computer animation.

Zombieland, not a bad zombie flick, and nothing more satisfying that watches zombies getting clobbered.

But on the good side, the theatre was empty, or the only one there, well there was an uninvited guest there, or a moth, that kept headbutting the projector lenze, and such.

Can't say too much, but l would give it 8/10, and they did a pretty good job in how the timeline plays out, and l could watch the jumbo Jet scene over and over, coolest part of the movie.

Just watched Sonic the Hedgehog, l know a kids movie, but the reviews were better than expected, so l had to rent it.

A great movie, all up, with plenty of adult one-liners to keep adults interested, with several scenes in the end credits to tie up loose ends, and something at the end of the credits.

Pretty good soundtrack also, which l will look into.

Good movie and well worth seeing, l personally wouldn't buy it, since it is an action movie, (superhero, Robocop, etc).

a huge buzz, suspense, rumours and wait, MCU Avengers- Infinity war, steeped into theater worldwide. It was the third part of 'Avengers' series which brought most of the Marvel's superheroes together and first time the fans got chance to meet most powerful villain of MCU, 'Thanos'.
If I have to express everything about this movie in a single line, I would say it was a portrait of Thanos and yeh, it was obviously a villain centered movie in a positive way.

I watched that last half of ready player one a few weeks ago..

basicallt i think the date of the movie is 20 years in the future .. where the economy sucks for most people so they live their lives in a virtual world called the oasis ..

and if you have outstanding debt and are good at game .. a corporation is able to buy that debt and force you to play from what are called loyalty center .. until you earn enough in the game to pay off the debt ..

after that the plot is better explained in a trailor for the movie than i can do

Gee, how do you find the time to watch the same movie 5 times when you are working, "a minimum of at least 60 hours per week - and loving every minute of it?" :-)

    Marvel Comic Heroes

It is essentially the background story and beginning origins of the Marvel Hero of the same name, how he develops his character, strengths, weaknesses, and scenarios of him utilizing his super hero skills.

As with all superhero stories, he encounters his first villain, and we see the trials and tribulations he must go through.

It was ok (mas o menos)...I generally liked the hero and his qualities of virtue and principal. However, as with all movies these days, it was loaded with too much political rhetoric and some of the attempts at trying to be cater to popular mainstream trends was unauthentic.

However, the back story line is pretty cool, and I liked several of the actors/actresses.

I would recommend just renting at home on Netflix.

Before going off the franchise for good take a look at the Death Star one, that was actually pretty good. Available on Netfix and whatever...

No, just saw Solo, and it was good, but dragged on too much for my liking.

Last one l saw was Jurassic Park, part 20, (lost count) which wasn't bad, but the franchise is clearly running out of steam.

And not even the Raiders type music for the trucks, (Spielberg) and the reasonably sexy red-head was enough.

The obvious happens at the end, to keep the franchise some more life, but still.

Wouldn't spend money in the theatres anymore for this one.

Typical Dwayne Johnson movie, a good way to kill 2 hours, but better as a rental than actually buying the DVD, if you are not into theatres.

I have watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. To me, it wasn't the best. I love the franchise, but the movie seem a little bit... too forced. Captain Jack feels like played by someone that tries to imitate Johnny Depp. Same with Hector Barbossa, the character didn't felt like him. I personally think that the movie was saved by the new characters.

Still worth it tho, for a POTC fan.

The Arrival was my last one, to date, and not bad, but not really something you would go to the theatre for or buy as a DVD.

Interesting how they showed a possible scenario of how humanity would handle first contact, and how some won't, which is an understatement.

Fear is irrational and is usually based on supposition, whereby familiarity reduces the fight or flight reaction and allows for intelligent reactions and thoughts.

It wasn't really what I expected. If you are going, thinking that it's a super hero movie, you'll be disappointed. But as a drama? It was pretty good. A few twists at the end, and perhaps the best acting I've ever seen on screen...from James McAvoy.

Another one on Rotten Tomatoes that got 36% from the critics and 77% from the viewers. What a divide.

"Glass from the Unbreakable series" is rather a humorous line if you think about it.

Shyamalan made three movies in the series. Unbreakable, Split, and Glass.

For whatever reason many of his movies get trashed by critics. I've enjoyed every one. He's a gifted story teller.

Shyamalan almost directed Life Of Pi. It had a twist ending of sorts. I read the book(before the movie), and after the last sentence...sat silently for a log time...just taking it in.

It may have been the closest thing to a spiritual experience that I ever felt. A beautiful...powerful...story.

Shyamalan turned it down because he loved the story, and was afraid that if his name was attached, the viewing public would just see the twist at the end...and ignore the profound lesson taught.

I thought Life of Pi was one of the best stories told in a movie ever and the visuals added to the great story.

What's even funnier is that I went on Amazon to buy a copy of the book, and found it for only $6. I ordered it...and when it arrived, it was titled Pi Of Life.

Someone wrote a nothing book, in the hopes of capitalizing on the publicity for the original book and movie.

And I fell for it. Like a Riffle.

"Glass from the Unbreakable series" is rather a humorous line if you think about it.

I read the synopsis and failed to comprehend. Perhaps if I'd seen the previous ones?

And yeah, Mark go and watch Unbreakable first, this won't make as much sense if you don't.

This one just started here, and not so sure if it is worth the price of admission, but probably worth a look.

Same here. I do watch T.V. series mainly because they are recorded, so I can always pick up where I left off when the grand children, nieces and nephews finish a visit.

Just watched the trailer to "Spiderman, Far from home", with groan, and why, being my dominant thoughts.

I won't post the trailer here, as l don't want to torture members.

And sure it has shield in it, and is set in Venice, no doubt to milk as much from the comotozed fan club as is possible.

                Ok, here it is.

As you can see, cliched story, predictable monsters to fight, and wall to wall boredom.

I would say that the company has well and truely milked the franchise, and is just showing rehashed, til they turn a loss.

If this comes out on DVD, l will probably give it a miss, l would rather watch Devil Woman from Mars, at least it is fresh and you cannot tell if she takes a few men with her or not.

Spidy is getting like a blocked public toilet that is overflowing, best to shut the door, shake your head and walk away.

Short Circuit, 1986, (released in that year) l forgot how good it was and a great original song to go alone with it.

Certainly better than its remake, with a great but not original 80's song, (Steve Winwood) and thrashed to death franchise, (made the mistake of watching all of the Transformer movies, so l am over them).

Ok, watched most of Bumblebee, but when they got up to the part where they were captured it became to oh hum, and ditched the rest.

Pretty obvious that her other car will be fixed and so forth, it had its moments with the 80's songs, which l believe were originals, but not sure for some of the songs, the start same old Transformer war thing, (my eyes glazed over during that part, but l gave it a chance.

Good movie, but if you are sick of Transformer movies then it is a 50/50 option, or you may think "couldn't be bothered watching the rest".

PS yes Spielberg used the tunnel that they used in Back to The Future 2, or very likely.

But if l had to compare this with Short Circuit, then Bumb,....is action/tension with some humor, and SC, more comedy and a lot less acton/drama.

Or BB carries a warning when having dinner, and SC, doesn't.

Glad l watched it and never have to watch it again, and will get my hands on Short Circuit two next.

Just watched Aquaman in theaters it was one of the best D.C. films to date. The story is explained very well with tons of details. Atlantis is masterfully rendered and really brings you into a new world. I definitely recommend you watch this one in theaters, Imax, 3D, or Dolby if you can. I give it a 10/10.

Yep, hate to say it, but it was pretty good, (just went to see it to get out of the heatwave we are getting, hmmm).

The fight scenes wearn't a bore, story, predictable, Atlantis pre-evil weapon causes an earthquake, scene, worth the price of admission, and close to historical data, which made it even more cooler, the rest, visuals with a melting mainframe, (a million things on screen at once) but all in all, not the usual, alien menace, with an oversized multidimensional blender in the middle of a city, with the supermob fighting it.

And destroying as many skyscrapers as possible for eye candy, with thankfully no bra-, never mind.

Worth the 2.20 and there is a scene in the end credits to tie up a loose end, (l didn't wait til the end credits, as l really couldn't be stuffed to learn that King Neptune, gets overthrown by a giant squid).

    Netflix originals:
    The Outlaw King (based on the legend of Robert The Bruce);
    The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs (an anthology western from the Coen brothers);
    Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (an interactive tale with multiple story lines and endings);
    Apostle (the story of a sinister religious cult on an isolated island);
    Bird Box (a post apocalyptic thriller with Sandra Bullock in the lead);
    Operation Finale (based on the true story of the capture of Nazi war criminal Adolph Eichmann in Argentina);
22 July (based on the true story of the neo-nazi who went on a shooting spree in Norway in 2011).

Not Netflix originals, but saw them on there anyway:
    Legend (the story of the notorious Kray brothers who ruled London's underworld in the 1960s);
    Midnight Express (hadn't seen it since it was originally on in cinemas in 1979);
    American Graffiti (likewise, hadn't seen it since its cinema release in 1974);
    Arrival (that rarest of creatures - an intelligent sci-fi film);
Interstellar (as far fetched as shit from China, but entertaining anyway).

(Please note that these are movies I've watched since my last post in this thread, and not necessarily watched them in the last few days, although I did watch Black Mirror: Bandersnatch this morning. I'll be watching it again and again over the next few days playing with the alternative story lines and endings.)

Also, every James Bond film ever (including the 2 non-official ones) have been added to Aussie streaming service Stan. So will be indulging myself and watching them in order over the next few weeks or so.

Yep, last one l saw was Edge of Tomorrow, which was actually a pretty good movie, a bit like Platoon, meets Independance Day and Groundhog Day.

The creature aspect was oh hum but the clever storyline around the time affect was what made it worthwhile.

Wreck it Ralph, was good, especially the Princess part, brilliant.

This looks interesting, albeit some of the action scenes may not be.

And yep, Frozen Two, Infinity war 2, and Captain America, (beats me 20) is getting dragged through the mud again, (female this time).

Yesterday I watched Captain Marvel. It was meh. Nothing special.

As a superhero movie fan, I always watch these and I had to see it before Avengers to know what's going on, but other than that the movie was bland. Brie Larson was great, but as a character she's indestructible. I don't see how they can make more movies with her, because she has no flaws and is super strong and she can fly. She was like Superman on steroids.

Personally, I'd give it 8 out of 10. We are so spoiled with Marvel. Anything that they put out that isn't the best movie ever made...is seen as mediocre.

I understand but Disney is distributing the series.. and the whole point of the movies is to sell a bunch of toys .. so squeezing captain marvel in.. to end game ..it will be interesting how they get Adam warlock into the MCU he did appear in cacoon at the end of guardians of the galaxy 2 ..

The animation was good, but it trended too video game-ish for me. We're going to have to disagree about the story, though. It was a cookie cutter plot. Find the MacGuffin and defeat your evil relative. Meh.

Recently watched Avengers End Game in 3D, was super excited because of the long awaited hype around this movie. Let me tell you I was extremely disappointed and kind of let down in terms of quality. The beginning and middle were extremely long, boring, uneventful. The films only saving grace was the ending. Sadly there was no extra scene after the credits I give it a 6/10 worth to see it in theaters for the ending only.

Thanks for that, so much for DIS stock going up.

Best guess he goes back in time, after controlling everything and saves that hot chick that he killed off previously then they nab him somehow, probably slip him a dodgy curry?

Sounds like another Batman vs Superman, drags on and is only good as a rental.

On Australia day, Hoyts only played that movie, which was a first, and the theatures were booked out, and toilets were booked out afterwards, lol.

I was thinking about SHAZAM, but alas, it was pulled. Probably for the best as the concept may have run out of steam fairy quickly, unless the special affects got it to the end credits?

I would wait til the other one comes out on rental, three hours is a bit too much, and it is only for die hard fans.

Not sure about the crying, but if the usher walked in on the end credits and said that the toilets have a one hour wait time, l would be crying as well.

I would be interested to know what you thought of Terminator Genisys. I thought it was hugely entertaining movie. The critics thought otherwise.

They release something that is at least on par with the earlier ones, yet it was slammed. Is it just because the idea has been done to death and the critics judged it being stale because of that.

I was actually thinking of messaging you to make sure you were OK.

I saw Justice League. If there were no Marvel movies, I would have thought it was really good. But compared to the two hour orgasms that MARVEL is putting out....I have to agree with you.

Captain Marvel was good, but not nearly as phenomenal as the last 2 Avengers movies.

The last 20 Marvel movies built a universe that we are invested in. Endgame is the Payoff. Really, it's absolutely worth seeing. Three hours of fan service. There are several moments that will send a chill up your spine...a few that will make you cry. You'll leave the theater...and spend the next hour or so...coming down.

I missed you. Really. My feeling of self worth really takes a hit when you aren't around.

I didn't mind it, eventhough the series ended abruptly, and the alternative timeline or parallel universe where everyone had the app, which would bring about the machines rising again, was getting a bit silly.

A bit like Doctor WHo, where they messed about with things so much it gave everyone a headache.

Just watched the Mule with Clint Eastwood, and he also produced and directed. Although the story was based on a newspaper cutout with someone who was a drug mule for the cartel in real life.

Good and possibly great movie, well worth a look.

Get to see a lot of the US, countryside and hear some cooky old songs, but someone really needs to tell them to stop driving on the wrong side of the road, lol.

Just watched Chaddyshack again, with plenty of great one liners.

And also read about Ghostbusters, or during filming Dan Achroyd, would walk over to Spielberg's studio when he was editing one of his Raiders movies hoping for a part, (1983).

He also borrowed Spielbergs bike which he assumed was a courier bike but it was the ET movie one, lol.

Had a choice between Godzilla King of the Monsters, and 2040, which was a hard choice since they are so much alike?

            Went with Godzilla, more laughs.

And also snuck into the Superhero, - Gold glove fetish one, before Godzilla started, and watched the Hulk, moan about stairs, and ironman, antman try to get some blue box back, and then watch Captain America and Captain America have a seriously dull fight, (don't ask).

My eyes glazed over at that point and l left.

Godzilla with the ad's was 2.3 hours, and the thing above would be 3.15 plus ad's or 3.45 minutes long.

I won't state the obvious, but cannot see how anyone could sit in a chair with a drink for almost 4 hours and enjoy it?

And why did l go and see, this, mainly to take a quick nap, since my car was being serviced, and l had little time today to do anything else except get the car down there.

Last was "Once.Upon.A.Time.In.Venice", with Bruce Willis, and others.

Pretty funny movie, but with adult humor, so best to lock the kids in their rooms so they can stare aimlessly at their smart phones watching an excessively loud cartoon?

Funny movie, cute dog, and a storyline with the faint smell of Pulp Fiction.

A mixed review in regards to seeing this in a theatre, but a good rental idea.

Well in theatres endgame is the last one I watched.

I only have netflix, and can't be bothered paying for anything else. Because what happens on netflix is that you spend more time on choosing the right one rather than watching a movie LOL... how do you get rid of this?

p.s shazam was good too. I mean it was something different. Immature hero but funny.

I watched Avengers End Game I can't really tell what this story is about because that would spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen Infinity War. I would recommend seeing the movie. However it wasn't my favorite I feel like this movie was riding off the story of previous movies and it's own story line was choppy and thrown together. It had different hero's in the movie and would fill in the details.

Watched Captain Marvel let me say it was the first Marvel movie I had to abandon ship half way through watching. The story telling was horrible and made zero sense. It would jump around so much that it was horrible. Probably the worst movie Marvel has ever released. Take a hard pass on this movie. 1/10

Yes, l was going to rent this, but the story was so b-grade superman, that l couldn't torture myself, not even for a reasonably attractive woman/alien, that comes to Earth to keep production costs down, and goes through the usual cliche ridden storyline.

      Geesh, another Hellboy?

But l have to admit that l enjoyed the last two, especially when the Nazis' were getting desperate and trying to use tech, to get some nasties into our relm, to run amok.

Yep, just watched it, and it was good, they even had a scene showing the Nazi, evil creature one again, which still has the cool aspect.

And l have to say it, the Blood Queen is a hottie, in an evil, decapitated, cut up and put back together kind of way!

And a warning they put on the gore, with a dumptruck, but do it in good taste, lol.

Eastern Promises (2007) starring Viggo Mortenson and Naomi Watts. A mafia movie with a twist - this time it's about the Russian mafia in London. A very dark and violent movie with strong performances from all the cast. 8/10.

I watched "Gone Girl" last night with Ben Afflect. Pretty crazy movie I've got to say, it will keep you engaged and guessing the entire time. It definitely has one of those "WTF" kind of endings which are my favorite. I'm really bad at explaining movie plots so here's from IMDB...

"On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne reports that his wife, Amy, has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?"

    Highly recommend, 8/10

Watched Men In Black International, was definitely a decent film to rent and watch at home a solid 6/10.

But the movie you must see in theaters is The Lion King, everything was top notch from the 3D Animation to the All Star Cast of Actors. The music was also very good. You will enjoy reliving the story all over again. 10/10 Try to see in Imax or Dolby you will not regret it.

I just watched Kong Skull Island. King Kong is my favorite movie monster. It was OK, but I had issues with how unbelievably stupid the helicopter pilots were.

I can see Kong surprising one or two, but why did the others fly so close one after another? Couldn't they have just landed then have Kong destroy the helicopters on the ground or trying to get away?

If there's a movie about a 100 ft. ape that fights dinosaurs and prefers blondes, I want it to be believable...

There are lots of scenes like that , that make me cringe a little. Even in movies i like.

In super hero movies, the misunderstanding that leads to a battle between two heroes. In Batman V Superman, they fought because Superman couldn't get a few words out of his mouth.

And movies where couples in love misunderstand each other. It becomes a convoluted mess to make it seem plausible that two people could find it impossible to get a sentence out of their mouth.

Cops getting yelled at by the chief of police......saying "Word on the street" and "Down at the docks" is lazy writing.

And possibly the most irritating....adventure movies where the hero continuously makes conclusions that are impossible...knows how to do things that are impossible...and instantly finds the right whatever....that would take anyone an eternity to find.

The Mummy movies with Brendan Fraser were like that.

2012 was a movie where the heroes were constantly half a second from death. Every falling building missed them by inches......every moment was "barely in the nick of time". After a while it got painful to watch.

And....why is it that every person in every movie is an expert at throwing knives.

And just once...before I die....when a female hero that weighs 95 pounds, fights three armed trained assassins that are 250 pound men...I want to see her lose. Just once.

And just once, in a teen movie....I want to see a parent that is smarter than their 12 year old kid.

And just once....when a group of heroes are in trouble...I want then to not all insist that they die to save the group......or die for the cause.

And just once...on a CW superhero show, I don't want to hear "I want you to kill me" as the first idea presented.

And just once....when a group of teenagers decides to go into an old house...at night....I want them to just look around, get back in their car...and drive away.

And just once....I want to see a gunfight where the hero that is being shot at by 25 bad guys...15 feet away....actually gets shot, before shooting all the bad guys with unerring accuracy...with his 350 bullet revolver.

And just once...I want the rich guy in town to just keep his money, and not throw it all away because, at the end of the movie, he found his heart.

And just once...I want to see highly advanced aliens not, by the end of the movie, discover "Compassion", which of course, only humans can feel.

Lol, yes a bit like in murder mysterys, where Frost or whoever has to tell the axe murderer he did it. What does he expect in return?

Flowers, praise? Especially without a gun.

True, the gunright, the nasty ones always have lousy aim, and in the car chase above, Bond should have been shot at least a few times.

The latest Fast and Furious, (which has put the Lion King to shame) is a hit, don't ask me why, the last few, where at Cartoon levels, regarding so called stunt work.

Yea, hate that, (throwing the money away) because it is the noble thing to do idea.

Yes, aliens are always evil, which means alien familys are evil, doesn't quite work.

We would most likely be seeing a galaxy wide interplanatery war, or planet hunting indications of wide spread damage, (destroyed planets, etc) if that were true.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019 Netflix).

A must see for fans of Breaking Bad, but probably not of much value to anyone who isn't. It brings final closure to the Breaking Bad story by depicting what happens to Jessie after he escapes from the Neo-Nazi meth lab. Features appearances by some of the characters from BB in flashback mode. The infantile sociopath Todd features prominently.

Also making appearances are Mike, Skinny Pete, Badger, Jessie's parents, Jane (Jessie's girlfriend who ODs in season 2), the vacuum cleaner salesman (not Claude) who helps Saul Goodman get away and start a new life and Lydia is alluded to. Oh yeah, and a special appearance by the big man himself. I shall say no more on that matter

10/10 for BB fans; ?/10 for non fans.

Yes, l will probably take a look at the LK, this week, don't spoil the ending, lol.

From what my brother has said, close to photorealism, which is typical for Disney, although when the boar, and other sing their song it gets creepy.

Watched the much anticipated Netflix original The Irishman. Underwhelming to say the least. It is nowhere near the masterpiece critics are making it out to be. A good movie, but not a great movie.

At 3 and a half hours it's about an hour longer than it needs to be. De Niro puts in a workman like performance in the titular role. Trouble is he's played similar roles much better many times in the past. Pacino does a good job as Jimmy Hoffa, however it's Joe Pesci who really stands out. We're all used to seeing him play manic over the top characters, however his role in this movie is very understated and calm. The rest of the cast do a good job, but no-one really extends themselves.

A lot has also been made of the CGI technology that allows older actors to play younger versions of their characters. For the most part it's barely noticeable, however when the characters move about they don't quite have that jaunty gait that they would've had when they were 30 or 40 years younger. This is most notable in the scene where de Niro's character kicks the crap out of a shopkeeper. That whole scene would've been a lot more effective if they'd focused the camera on the girl and allowed the kicking to be heard and not seen.

Anyway, it's probably worth a watch just to see what all the fuss is about, although you'd get much better value from watching the Scorcese,de Niro, Pesci classic Goodfellas again. The Irishman is not in the same league as Goodfellas.

The True History Of The Kelly Gang (2019).

In Australia it's available exclusively on streaming service Stan. In the UK it's distributed by Picturehouse Cinemas and will be released at the end of February there. In the US it's distributed by IFC Films and is due for a release in April.

First off, despite the title, it's actually a fictionalised account of notorious bushranger Ned Kelly's "career".based on acclaimed Australian novelist Peter Carey's book of the same name It features George MacKay in the title role and Russel Crowe as Kelly's mentor in bushranging, Harry Powers.

Ned Kelly has for unknown reasons (to me at least) become something of an Aussie folk hero, despite the fact he was a cold blooded, ruthless killer. In reality he's more of an Aussie version of Jessie James or even Al Capone.

Anyway, this movie doesn't try to sugar coat him and for obvious reasons it's a pretty dark and violent tale. It's told in more of an episodic manner rather than a linear story. It depicts events that shaped Kelly into becoming what he was.

    8/10.

The last movie I watched was Ready or Not (2019)
It's a comedy horror film in which newlywed was hunted by her spouse's family as a part of their wedding ritual, which was held in the form of the game. But, this game is not so innocent as it could seem at first sight.
The movie is funny, but it's more like dark humor, in places quite bloody and the ending seemed quite unexpected to me.
But, all in all, I think it's a one-off movie. But a good one.
    Regards, James.

I watched Rawhide recently, the TV show from the early 60's (it was Clint Eastwood's first big break)... watched a few episodes... and I'm quite impressed with the story lines.

When I was a kid and saw the show, most of it went right over my head.

But I swear, it's a good show, with story lines that you might find in the Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock's TV show... but it's wrapped in cowboy garb.

When I was in my 30's (in the 1980's) I "hated" black and white TV.. but now I think they are better story tellers than what we see today with all the Computer Graphic crap.

    Just thinking.

Given the current state of affairs, the wife and I were looking for a light hearted, goofy comedy. Apparently, they don't make those anymore.

We stumbled onto Cedar Rapids with Ed Helms, Anne Heche, and John C. Reilly from 2011. Not a great movie by any means, but it was just funny and stupid enough to make us forget for a minute the viral spectre nipping at our heels. (The Royal Docks Lovibond White Coffee Stout helped, too...).

Agreed we need as much light comedy as we can get our hands on currently, l watched Star War, Lukes Retirement Plan, (or whetever it was called) and for 2.13 minutes forgot everything else.

We certainly don't need strict rules, seriousness and depressing conversations only!

Another forum l belong to is making fun of C-19, and some of the images around toilet paper is hilarious.

Just like in the war years, we need to keep our spirits up, or watch escapism movies, or comedy's, not go to a rental store that only has The Omega Man, and I am legend.

    Really?

I'm old, I have underlying health issues and the only fear I have is the massive damage done by the world's cowardly response. People losing jobs, businesses, homes, and untold long term economic effects.

In a couple of years, you can all watch the movies about using a nuclear missile to kill a mosquito, the cure far worse than the disease, etc.

Humans really have shown their true colors. I call it the Coward Virus because the entire population of the planet with very few exceptions is paralyzed with fear. A pathetic display!

Pardon my poetic license. I guess having concern for the collapse of our health care system and the elderly and infirm is cowardly.

Was able to watch three new movies latey: Birds Of Prey 5/10 it seemed like it would be a good movie but kind of dragged on and started to get boring. Then there was Code 8 on Netflix 9/10 very cool concept and exciting from beginning to the end. The best out of all the movies was Jumanji The Next Level a solid 10/10 it was way better than the first Jumanji movie(with the Rock) and had you LOL the whole time definitely give it a watch.

An interesting theory, except a DVD is as antique as a Video Cassette. It's Blue Ray now and I'm probably behind with that?
