People should start up an internet marketing forum in Nigeria, I think somebody should guide that misdirected creativity to a better channel.

With those words they could easily create a marketing campaign for their own people, they can write up stories eh..

But then the smell of Quick and Easy money always lure people, sometimes to no good ends.

I kind of feel bad for the scammer too but everytime I start to feel bad for the scammer I have to remind myself that this scum bag is trying to rip off what he believes is a church that gives charitable contributions to disaster victims.

I also wonder what happened to the scammer when the emails abruptly stopped but to quote Ivan Drago from Rocky IV "If he dies, he dies."

You'll see it a lot in scam baiting comminities. Good fun to read, and see how easy it is to hook someone who is greedy.

The psychology has a lot in common with those who want to make money fast in the IM niche....

Every time I go to that site, I spend hours reading it. Stories unfolding can become very entertaining.

It's just so too bad that it comes Nigeria (or wherever for that matter). I've met Nigerians who are most wonderful and hard working. But it's too bad it comes from one country and gets bad reputation like this.

I can't believe the person was so greedy that they would do anything. Dumb.

1. Not every Nigerian is a scammer.
2. 419 is their penal code for fraud.

3. Not fair now all Nigerians painted with the same brush as their scammers and some 419 are no longer in Nigeria. holy mrs oli in the ivory coast, baby.

4.I am glad Paypal ClickBank etc do not bar Americans because of how many crooks do we have again?

I see why it may be necessary based on rampant fraud and self protection which is understandable. But lets not persecute and ban an entire country.

5.I have been watching the 419 scam for close to 20 years now and it is no joke.

having worked with bank secrecy act compliance when 419 came to be infamous, back when their mission statement was to bring down the US Financial System. credit card chippies. (LOL everybody ends up on the internet and 419 is no exception.

....not condoning anything either way, but it is hard to say what one would do if they were starving and their country was even in worse shape, having been occupied and pillaged globally and locally. (yeh the yin yang)

the really dangerous one now to me is ConfIcker fLicker or whatever. it has some strange patterns and as soon as someone 'gets it', it morphs into something else, it hides and then it re-emerges and nobody knows where or when.

The reason I correlate Conflicker is because it has gone back and forth and recently (last few years) was discovered in internet home banking, ok...

Next just in the last few weeks it is making noise (not sure if I saw that or if true that it is now in email/spam.

Maybe ya had to be there but it makes sense to me they are both symptoms of the same evil disease.
