Wonder Woman 1984, New Movie Out December 25th

I thought Wonder Woman, the first movie, was the Best Super Hero Movie ever made. Just about perfect.

So what of the second movie, a long time coming, same female director. No official reviews yet but a few people claim to have seen it, I will post one below. This is a definite watch for me and will probably be on the pay per view streaming sites.

So do you agree or disagree with my appraisal, is it Wonder Woman or the Avengers last movie perhaps. What was your favorite Super Hero of all time so far?

Here's the alleged review:

"Just saw the movie in its ENTIRETY!
To say that we were floored and taken aback by the surprise ending would be an understatement! What Patty Jenkins did is beyond a masterpiece and leaves no doubt that the DC universe, despite Covid-19, is gonna kick Marvel's ass in 2021!
WW1984......
Hmmmm---WW2011
Wait until the credits are ending for a MIND BLOWING segue into the IADC!!!!
YOU'RE welcome, America!"

  • I'm such a downer - my first thought in reading that review was 'dude needs to get a life'.

Second thought - good publicist, paid review

  • Mark, it'll be on HBO Max on Christmas day.

While I love the first Avengers and the first Guardians of the Galaxy for what they are, the best comic book movie is Logan. I honestly believe it should've been at least nominated for best picture.

And I say that having seen Wonder Woman. It was good, but not great, in my opinion.

    • Logan was in a class by itself.

Guardians and Wonder Woman were so exceptional to me because they were so hard to make.

GOTG took a comic book that nobody was reading, and made it into a movie that nobody was waiting to see. And they made it wildly entertaining.

Wonder Woman was so great (to me) because until that movie, there wasn't a great superhero movie with a female lead. I suspect they are harder to make. The trailers for the new Wonder Woman movie look great. Was she swinging with her lasso...from lightning bolts? Amazing to see.

Most Superhero movies I see have great moments, but not consistent throughout.

For example, the warehouse Batman fight scene in Batman V Superman was the best Batman scene I've ever seen. But it wasn't a great movie.

Seeing Captain America face down the army of Thanos in Avengers Endgame was deeply moving to me, but it was also a great movie.

And of course the end scene of Logan....where the cross on his grave is turned into an X......wow. But of course it was also a phenomenal movie.

I hope the next round of Marvel movies are as good as we expect.

Added later; Sorry, I forgot to insult you. You just didn't think Wonder Woman was great,. because she's taller than you.

    • Well that's a bummer, only streaming on HBO Max. You have to sign up and pay $14.99 a month for that. Will have to wait for it to be on Netflix or Prime etc. I suppose I could sign up for one month and cancel.

  • It looks pretty interesting can't wait to see it.
  • I´m very interested in seeing that movie, because DC is starting to do some things better, like the movie of Shazam was in my opinion amazing. Personally I´m more of a Marvel fan here, because of the mistakes that DC has done in the past. I hope this movie is great
  • tbh I would settle for bein' Moderately Competent Woman rn.

  • I haven't seen any of those movies. I just looked at IMDB to see if they were cartoon movies. They look too scary for me.

    • You're obviously a casualty of watching Doctor Who

  • Not a super hero movie. The Hunt for Red October. Now, IMO that is a very good one.
  • If you were stuck for the rest of your life on a deserted island with a choice of Hugh Jackman or Gal Gadot who would you choose?
  • Here's the first few minutes of the new Wonder Woman movie. It's awe inspiring, I think.

  • Patty Jenkins directs the superhero sequel with Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright and Connie Neilsen reprising their roles from the 2017 box-office hit Wonder Woman. The film also stars Kristen Wiig as the antagonist, Cheetah.

  • Well, it's nearly 1 pm in good old TX, I have HBO Max. So, where's Wonder Woman 1984?

I have added it to my library and it says it will record it as soon as it becomes available? Errr, it's December 25th, the release day. Should it not be available now?

  • Watched it.

    Meh.

The plot was hot garbage and the director took a fantastic actor in Pedro Pascal and straight up ruined him - a truly laughable performance.

However, I could watch Gal Gadot read one of Claude's "books" (on mute, of course), so I'll give it 4 stars for scenery alone, -1 star for plot, for a total of 3 stars.

    • Lucky you to see it, still have an empty place holder for it

We must all take a step back and remember, this is all comic book stuff, fantasy and not serious drama or real life stuff. It should be taken for what it is, which already transcends our expectations by far.
    • I bet she got through the entire movie without a scratch, or frizzy hair?

  • Wonder Woman 1984 was so bad that my wife and 12 year old daughter asked me to switch it off.

I just couldn't believe how unbelievable it was. How unfunny Kristen Wig was ugh! and chris pine coming back from the dead omg! ridiculous the whole thing.

    • Now the cat has bolted, agreed, Chris P, comes back, takes over some poor smuks life, and bores us to tears with dragged out, "1984 is so modern" vibe.

For a movie that drags on for two and a half hours, they could have cut some of the boredom out.

Certainly could have cut the fashion options back.

"What do l wish for,...that this movie is buried in the desert on top of the Atari ET packs".

    • One thing I hadn't thought of before..

Seeing a movie on the big screen is a different experience, especially superhero movies that are heavily visual.

I watched WW84 on my computer screen.

  • For anyone who haven't seen the movie yet or just a general life lesson.

Always remember to not let others opinions persuade you. it's better to make your own opinions because you may have a different viewpoint on it.

    • Absolutely. You should never take anyone's advice. Always learn things the hard way. Always.

  • Jus' to say, prolly I would share a punch with Dan Riffle.

Point us toward the tureen, likely we be OK.

Long as there ain't no misladlin', sounds like a perfect plan to follow. Or swallow.

Jus' gotta watch for lemon pips in your teeth, I guess.

That is the prahblem with most punches imho.

Or plahstic ice cubes fulla fairy lights.

I would so love a bathtub fulla punch.

Cleopatra famously had hunny-drenched milk -- but I would wanna hope we moved on since them days of limited exotica.

Hey ... to hell with tubsy punch fulla mere lemons.

I would want halved melons floatin' about my person -- if'n only to compliment my own modest juiciness up top.

    Sliced kumquats!

Plus also an eco-friendly straw ... so I could schloopsy up the pep from a tall glass by my tub.

An' a foamin' spa bubble kinda feel -- to flip the odd grape floatin' around into spontaneous aerial submission.

So yeah those are my needs rn.

Global warmin' an' salvation for all oppressed rodents can wait.

    I am srs.
