So I pulled into Kroger today...

and a Karen went off on me.

I drive a Land Rover.

According to her, I should buy American.

Ok. I'm not the kind of person that can just come back with a response so it left me speechless.

I ended up paying her $241 grocery bill and I think that shocked her.

Have any of you met a Karen?

I she was a full blown Karen. Versus someone having a blonde moment. Not directly responding to her was the best thing you could have done.

I don't even think there is a response to that. It just might have been a dumb American comment verse a Karen.

Where Toyota builds their cars in the USA and it used to be they used more parts made in the USA than American manufacturers .

The the Karen trigger would be" so what you are saying is I should buy a Toyota?"

I'm very social know I run into different types of Karen's often enough. I'm supposed where you have restaurants you don't run into food snob Karen's on a regular basis

I really seldom run into one.

Then again, I live in a small town where people are just nosey...

What kind of person accosts a stranger for the car he drives? That MIGHT be a karen or simply an idiot. Love your solution to HER problem. Did you make sure she had no processed foods before you paid for the groceries? What about imported foods?

      Hahaha, that is good.

I probably could have also asked her if the clothes she had on were imported.

I never think of these things right away.

Of course, when I get home and think about it I come up with 100 different things I could have said.

I had Karen's twin recently, in a parking lot...and after she got through with her rant, I said:

I listen to Bruce Springsteen and Elton John, do you also have a problem with gay singers?

And began singing a made up version of Rocket Man and Born in the USA.

She looked confused as I began singing and dancing in the dark. Karens and Dons make the world annoyingly interesting, eh?

I have an employee that's a flaming gay guy...

and by that I mean as soon as he starts talking, you know.

I don't have a problem with that, obviously, since I hired him.

It's not my thing, but I'm not going to judge.

I love him and the customers love him.

I do joke with him about the current political mess we have going on. He's on one side and I'm on the other.

              Yes. 241.17.

We're not taking any money with us after we die.

A few months ago I bought a house and donated it to a group that helps women in abusive situations.

I'm a firm believer that when you give you get.

Anything you do that helps others, helps you.

              Look at the wealthiest people...

they donate heavily. I'm far from the wealthiest, but I still believe in giving because it all comes back to you in one way or another.

Same way here - just full of 'should have saids'.

Faced with her rant I would have said 'ok..fine...whatever' and gotten in my 'bad' car and left. I would have thought about running over her but I probably wouldn't have done it.

So Karen came ovah one time.

    "They frickin' hate me."

Ima mostly slapdown with the opinionated, but I figured her tears gaht zilchow to do with misappropriated generalities, whatevah the frick THEY are.

Othahwise I woulda smacked her in the mouth.

Steada that scenario, I thought on my feet greet cheat sweet thang, an' just kinda blurted shit out.

"Plus mebbe they also DON'T," I said. "Ain't like you no Joolie or nuthin'."

"That is my MIDDLE NAME, you shithole! Why don't you just SHAFT ME DOUBLE while you're pretending to care?"

    Gal had a point.

I was only bein' kind bcs she said alla the stuff 'bout the hate.

Woulda mebbeya tried to figure stuff out, but the gal stomped away.

"I am Karen. As in KAAAAREN, okay? I did not start this, it is not my fault, I just want to live my life!"

Less'n she'd told me her name, prolly I wouldna evin known.

(This was las' week in the store btw, as I was sizin' up joosy zucchinis to purchase. Gal snook up an' said, "They frickin' hate me". What am I to do? Attack her with a random vegetabyool, or pass it ovah so she can bring husself back to sanity in a drug-free cuppasity once I distracted the checkout guy?)

    The Frick This Leaves Nowan?

Did you say nothing to her to begin the situation?
Did you take her parking space? Spit in front of her? yell at her kid?

Usually, humans don't just start yelling at someone else with no provocation.

I wasn't there, and have no idea what transpired. But human actions are predictable.

          Good questions...

but the answer to all of them is no.

Humans ARE predictable based on their personalities.

There really are some people who are just different.

It could have been political beliefs, buy union type thing, mental issue...I don't know.

I was watching videos on TikTok (tons of them) about Karens. There really are some people who just defy what most of us consider normal behavior.

It really is something, and there is a reason the term was started.

There's been a pretty big plot twist to this story in the last hour and a half.

I'll tell you the real zinger in a minute...

but first. She sent me a message on Messenger. I accepted it. I recognized her picture.

How she knew who I was I have no idea.

    She apologized over and over.

    I'll paraphrase here...

she was having a bad few days because of family problems and apologized for her behavior.

She said she cried for a good hour when she got home because someone she didn't even know was so kind to her.

The biggest plot twist in this is her first name is Karen.

As the saying goes...the truth is stranger than fiction.

I would have never seen this coming.

Sometimes things happen that just completely leave me amazed at how life works.

Kroger is an up-market store though, one of the more expensive ones. Now if this had happened outside Walmart, I would have considered it more charitable.

That's interesting. I've never considered it that way.

        Ours is almost always busy...

I believe, Kroger is the most popular grocery in Ohio.

They do have their Kroger Card and big sales all the time.

I would consider somewhere like Whole Foods more on the upscale side.

I shop every couple of weeks at a Kroger. They have a few more things I like, a small Brit section for example. However, every now and again I shop at Walmart. Typically I save up to 50 bucks shopping there.

Yes, I live outside of Tiffin Ohio which I believe has a population of around 17K. I also have a house in Toledo Ohio in the Ottawa Park area, as well as several apartment units in Toledo (around 500).

When the woman told her daughter about the incident, her daughter knew who I was.

As I said in an earlier post, the woman has an addiction issue.

We're working on that and helping the family.

I think the term 'Karen' gets way overused.

I used it because everyone instantly knows what it means.

      But, I hate the term.

Like 'veggies', I hate that word

There's actually a whole Reddit forum about hating that word.
