How To Un-Brick Your Amazon Alexa Echo's
I have two large cylindrical Amazon Alexa Echo devices, about four years old. I used them a lot.
Last year I changed my Xfinity modem/router. The App asked me If I wanted to use the same login credentials as before. I said yes and all my devices continued connecting to the net as before, it was seamless.
This year, I changed the the Xfinity modem/router. This time It asked me to type in a new network name and password. I used the same credentials as before. Each device asked me to type in my password after choosing the network name. So, they saw it as a new connection.
All was good, except the Echo devices. In the Alexa phone app I could not get either of them to re-set and reconnect them to the internet. I could not do this. I tried every troubleshooting thing online. I even disowned them so I could try deleting the App, re-downloading it and logging in anew. I could not re-discover either of them.
So I almost tossed them and thought to buy two Echo 8" screen Shows which have touch screens so no reliance on the App. That would have set me back around $300.00
Finally, I thought, try doing the on someone else's phone. So I invited my friend round who has a much more recent Apple Phone, my Samsung Android is 5 years old. She already had the Alexa App, but was not currently using it. So I get her to delete it and re-download it. I logged in with my Amazon id. Both devices were detected when in setup mode and connected to the Wifi, after asking for the password. It all worked so they are back up and running. She then deleted her app, and they now show up on mine.
So, if you get this happen to you, try it on a friends phone. Sheeez
