I immediately thought to myslef "Whoa! July 7th?! That's Ringo Starr's birthday." Then I remembered he was born in 1940 (he was the oldest Beatle).

That means Ringo Starr is 70 years old today.

I think that's cool.

p.s. John Lennon would have been 70 on October 9th. Sadly, this December 8th will mark the 30th anniversary of his brutal, senseless murder. (Sorry for the downer)

p.p.s. For those who also don't have a boss...turns out today is Wednesday.

I also saw it on the news this morning and I've got to tell you, I was really impressed at how young he looks for his age!

I know he most likely colors his hair, but he still looks virile and not all shriveled up and wrinkle ridden as a lot of 70 year old men do.

I wonder what his health regime is...

Are you kidding me? I think it's awesome that you can just wake up and realize that's it's a celebrity's birthday!

As I've told you before, I'm really impressed with the way your mind works. I mean, if I hadn't watched the news, I wouldn't have known it was his birthday at all, well until I read your post anyway!

However, what about those important dates I forget? I would hate to miss out on them.

Another big day in music is Decemeber 3rd:

1. 1948, Ozzy Osbourne's birthday.
2. 1971, the real fire happened at a casino in Montreaux, Switzerland - Which was memorialized in the song "Smoke On The Water".
3. 1976, the inflatable pig on the cover of Pink Floyd's Animals breaks loose and flies away.
4. 1979, 11 fans are trampled to death at a Who concert in Cincinnati.
5. 1981, Britney Spears born.

I also like January 8th because it's Elvis Presley's, David Bowie's and Robbie Krieger's (guitar player for The Doors and wrote "Light My Fire") birthdays. Oh, and the Johnny Horton song "Battle Of New Orleans" is based on the traditional song "The 8th Of January" which is when the events of the song supposedly took place in 1814.

Dang it!

Now you got me started...

One more (and one of my favorite bits of trivia).

Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) swtiched to self-rule on February 4th, 1948. Which is the exact day and year that Alice Cooper was born.

It happens to me too, not knowing what day of the week it is. Today is garbage day, so I know it's Wednesday.

Still, it surprised me. Is he really that old? That makes him older than I, which I just discovered today.

And John, yes. Very sad, indeed. I'm reminded of it yearly, because he died on my birthday - the 8th of December.

Same here, in a way, Sylvia. My oldest was born on December 8th as well, though she takes comfort in the fact that it is also Jim Morrison's birthday.

By the way, after posting I did some checking, and some sources list #3 and #5 as happening on December 2nd. In fact, I couldn't find any that listed Britney's birthday as December 3rd, so I may have mis-remembered. But, I have seen about a 50/50 split between the 2nd and 3rd for the inflatable pig mishap.

Anyway, I wanted to mention it because I don't like to perpetuate misinformation.
