As a Mets fan, I have to say, I enjoyed watching his antics over the years. Entertaining. But his Yanks were winners more often than not.

    I really thought he was too ornery to die.

    He was a lunatic when it came to hiring and firing people, but he sure knew
    how to put together a winning ball club.

    I'm a NY fan so I like the Yankees and Mets, though most people can't
    understand why.

    But that's another subject altogether.

        I've never been a baseball fan, but have been a fan of many of the personalities in that game. George Steinbrenner is one of those I was a fan of. He will be missed.

          I liked him on Seinfeld.

          George and his group bought the Yankees for $8.8 million and he spent less than $200,000 of his own money to do so. 37 years later the Yankees are worth around $1 billion. Not a bad investment.

    Thanks to Steinbrenners' amazing gift for bringing in veteran talent that still performed...

    I'll never forget Reggie hitting 3 homers on 3 consecutive pitches in one game to clinch the World Series vs. the Dodgers in 1977.

    I saw it live on TV.

    Lots of owners have tried the same formula but few have done as well as George.

    Peter Angelos of my beloved Orioles comes to mind as one that couldn't get it right as he tried to duplicate George.
