Can my wife join the Forum, using the Same IP?

Can my wife join the forum on the same IP? Just didn't want to get into any hot water with the Forum?

Hi Mike,

There are a few H/W teams here on the forum and from reading a few threads here they did have a problem at first using the same IP addy.

Perhaps it was solved by opening up a help desk ticket and alerting Thomas that two people will be accessing the forum through the same portal.

Might be worth a try...

Before you get banned or something just try to contact one of the admins and ask them! I think they have a sort of 1 user per IP protection to detect cheating forum users.

With the millions of users on this forum the admins have much better things to do with their time than trying to check duplicate I.P.s

If someone really wanted to cheat the system a 1 user per IP rule wouldn't even be a bump in the road to them.

Yes, she can. There's one thing you need to be very careful of, though.

Do not ever comment in each other's threads, especially WSOs, without reminding people of the relationship. If it looks like one of you is shilling for the other, that's Big Trouble.

There are probably other small things, but they're small enough that I'm not thinking of them right now. Watch out for that one, and you should be good to go.

I asked Admin the same thing because my husband is keen to join the forum, and not only do we share the same ip, but we share the same office

I was told by Thomas exactly what Paul has said here. So, do the right thing and you should be ok.

maybe you could put a note in your signature or get in contact with an admin directly to give them a heads up and get an ok so it hopefully won't cause any problems.

I think she can join as long as the IP is not banned by the forum administrator.

Normally forums have script to detect 2 users from same IP. Is that same IP with different PCs or same IP with same PC?? Because if you have same IP with 2 different PCs then I don't think there is any problem for you but still I am not admin...so any admin can provide right answer.

It shouldn't matter as long as she has her own username and password. I don't think it really matters if you have the same IP address.
