A Sick kidney Scammer

I just got this message posted on my gofundme page.

"HI, I like to help you. I'm O 40 yrs old male. I don't want money or gifts. Only you must TC of medical,transplant (@ good safe hospital) travelling ( if need). Because being a free donor to help some body, I'll not ready to lose Money also with my important body part,or take health risk by doing transplant @ unsafe hospital. Hope fair enough.     WOW, I wonder if that idiot gets any takers! Maybe he'll lose his kidneys and end up on the list!

    Oh well, people will have a hard time trying to understand him. Most that understand won't trust him. OIthers will be too suspicious. HOPEFULLY the remainder will ALL know that it is ILLEGAL to release that information so EVEN if the guy were a trillionare, he couldn't determine he was compatible with you. It is EVEN illegal to release your BLOOD TYPE!

    In short, about 100% of people should know, or at least suspect, that he is an IDIOT SCAMMER!

    I worked on a documentary about these types of scams and you would not believe the depths to which some of these scammers will stoop.

    I've met people who lost EVERYTHING because they thought they were helping out sick and needy people on the other side of the world.

    What's worse, if you fall for a scam once, your name is added to a "suckers" list, which is sold on by scammers to other scammers; and the poor victim is soon bombarded with hundreds of scams making their life even more of misery.

    Much more should be done, but because the crime is usually committed across borders, it very difficult to police. Unfortunately, it's rarely dealt with as a priority because the chances of a conviction or recovering the money are slim to none, and sadly the people who fall for them are often thought of as stupid.

    Steve - it's not illegal for someone to give out their OWN data - it's illegal for others to give out YOUR data.

    Yeah it's sick alright, Kim. But there are people who kill their own family members for money. When it comes to money people show what they are really made of.

    Kidney failure is becoming so rampant that there is actually quite a large black market for them right now. You are seeing marketing emails -- in some places people are actually knocking people out and cutting their kidneys out to sell them. Sometimes they only take one, but some people wake up with no kidneys or die without ever knowing what hit them. A lot of people with failing kidneys who are rich are more than happy to support illegal trade.

    Scammers - at all levels, whether low level scamming scum like you get here in the forum or high level who take lives for money - are all the same breed of parasite whether they want to know it or not. They just work at benign levels which they can cop a plea that they've done nothing wrong when they get caught.

    I don't find this any sicker than corporate executives driving rolls royces and drinking champagne on the blood of workers who died working for them or because their products are lethal or because they dumped toxic crap because they were more concerned for their profits than people and the environment (read: BP, MONSANTO).

      RIGHT, I didn't claim otherwise. Sorry if I didn't make that clearer. A number of other laws BORDERED on stating that, but HIPAA fully codified it. Basically I meant that since KIMW obviously didn't release it, it was unlikely that the scammer had the info. So they were promising something that they were almost POSITIVE that they didn't have.

      BTW one key part of HIPAA is that YOU must sign a release to allow companies to release your info to SPECIFIED people or entities. YOU, of course, can tell anyone. Failure to comply with HIPAA for medical companies can bring some STIFF punishment, and even get them shut down.
