So that blind people can hate them as well.

    Freudian???

A verbal mistake that is thought to reveal a repressed belief, thought, or emotion.

Do you have repressed emotions about parents and bananas???

That's a Freudian SLIP, Sheryl. LOL - I was just saying there were a lot of latent sexual connotations in putting a banana in a parenting group. I told it ya was late when I read that subject line. Hahahhaaha. Actually, I'm not repressed, myself. I imagine I've caused a few deep ones in a few guys I've dated though.

I've never heard of the work Freudian before - I had to look it up and that's what I found, thought it was quite funny in the context you used it so what does Freudian mean then???

Now you must have a one track mind - I didn't even think of the sexual connotations of a banana in a parenting group now that thought is probably going to stick in my mind though

Sheryl - his name is Freud (Sigmond Freud) - Freudian is his vein of thought. He thought all problems stemmed from sex. A banana in Freud's world is a phallic symbol.

Very famous psychologist -- and kind of a fruit basket in his own right.

Not to mention his crippling opium addiction. He thought that all men wanted to have sex with their mothers and kill their fathers. Bit of a nutter but somehow he made sense. Most men do tend to look for (or end up with) a wife or girlfriend that resembles his mother in many ways. Don't know about the father killing part though. He was the founder of modern psychology, so he must have been doing something right, unless all shrinks that followed his footsteps are just as mad.

Actually, he was addicted to Cocaine and for a while advocated its use.
I can't find any reference to him being addicted to opium.

BTW Freud did NOT think everything sprang from sex. I actually have a book written by him about memory and why people forget. I got it at a sidewalk sale in a german community for like ,50, so how could I refuse. I forget where it is at the momeent, so maybe I'll put the title down later.

Freudian slip talks about the idea that what you say may be what you REALLY feel about the topic at hand, or may contain fragments of what you were thinking about at the time, or some similar subconcious thought.

Freudian simply relates to how something might relate to such thoughts, etc... Though a banana IS often taken to mean only one thing.

Aand what was I thinking? Well, as I waited for this page to load, I felt I was going to ask you a question:

WHAT HAPPENED? Did they run out fo singing carp?

As I saw your first post, my STATMENT was going to be:

I don't really either, but they ARE nutritious, full of potasium, and I DO like banana bread. Alas, since I found it was typically created with OLD bananas, I don't like it so much anymore.

Well, so much for the sexual connotation I guess, at least in MY case! 8-)
