    What I read that was interesting was the varying depth of fire...help reduce pollution. Also I don't know if they have these in New York, but might even be able to do away with the EGR.

    I'm guessing here, but seems like it might help (with a more efficient combustion) get rid of quite a bit of smog related crap.

    Remember the split fires? I thought they where a good idea at the time.
    But I never really was able to register a viable difference with them.
    With the variable depth ignition, that's a whole new ball game.

      It's kind of funny, in California I always have to think of smog crap first.

      My guess is that here, almost half the systems on a IC engine are smog related.

      When I went up to Montana, they don't even require catalytic converters yet.

      I really don't know what each state requires, IMO this technology could mean increased HP easily, by not having to rely on restrictive smog equipment.

      Even as fast as tech. is going now, I won't see this in mass production in my lifetime.
