JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, makes "a runner" in business terms with her business partner and "dumps" without many compliments her manager that brought her to success.

Is it happening all the time and is it an acceptable behaviour, and are there other examples of this which ended up well?

    I don't know the details of her affairs of her business people, but that lady has quite an imagination.

        Rowlings sat for months in a cafe writing her stories - her business manager, etc were nowhere in evidence. She was broke, raising kids on her own and she deserves to do what she wants.

        Anyone associated with her probably made a fortune BECAUSE of her and her imagination - but they'll whine anyway because leeches always want more.

          Her ditching of Little brings to an end the most commercially successful relationship in literary history. Legend has it that Rowling, then an impecunious single mother, walked into a library in Edinburgh, looked up a list of literary agents and settled on the name Christopher Little because it sounded like a character from a children's book.



          Little, an amiable Yorkshireman, who ran his agency in "near-Dickensian" offices in Fulham, is now worth millions. He reportedly struck a deal under his usual terms when he first signed up Rowling: 15 per cent of gross earnings for the British market and 20 per cent for merchandising rights, for film, for the American market and for translation deals.
          I doubt the "legend" is right - as other more substantial info pieces on Rowling say she was turned down by several publishing houses.

          If you ask me, Rowling MADE the publisher...not the other way around. He's a multi-millionaire becuase of her work. She's moving now to an internet business model - so she is adding someone who is internet savvy.
