My gf is a wine connoisseur, I consider myself a beer connoisseur lol. Hard to pick a fave beer, I generally prefer more strong or hoppy IPAs. Some of my favorite breweries are Stone Brewery, Dogfish Head, and Rogue. I'd have to say Stone's various Arrogant ******* brews are my faves.

Finally, someone on this thread with good taste in beer.

A few of my fave micro-brews... Highland Oatmeal Porter, French Broad Wee Heavy-er, Rogue Shakespear Stout, New Belgium 1554, Duck Rabbit Stout.

As for the mass-produced stuff... Sam Adams Oktoberfest and Sierra Nevada Porter are the only ones that come to mind.

Ahhh another beer connoisseur haha . I just found a new one at my fave pizza joint here, they have some new craft beers in and this company Southern Tier, I had their 2XIPA and it was delicious, very good... awesome reviews on beeradvocate 2XIPA - Southern Tier Brewing Company - Lakewood, NY - BeerAdvocate

Totally agree on the mass produced, Octoberfest, and as a company in general Sierra Nevada is the only "mass" beer company that's good. Their Celebration Ale is a great winter brew.

They shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as "Beer" since they are so gross. If you want a laugh, go check beeradvocate, the "king of beers" Bud is about the worst rated beer hahahaha. Bud Ice is even grosser, seriously how can anyone drink any of their stuff? I can tolerate Coors for a light beer, but Budweiser is flat out nasty.

Just grabbed Left Hand Brewings new winter seasonal Fade To Black, it's a pepper porter. Excellent beer, the pepper spice hitting at the end of a sip is cool.

I seem to remember a thread like this before.

I had the most marvellous couple of pints in a Leicestershire pub a couple of years ago which stays in the memory. It was flat Bass served from a pitcher. I could have sat there all afternoon drinking that.

Bass remains a favourite (although I was disappointed when I found a bar in Long Beach, CA serving it - and it tasted terrible, so it doesn't travel well).

If I can't get Bass then it has to be Batemans XXB

If no Batemans then Adnams will do.

For lagers, I quite like Mythos (Greek) or Carlsberg.

I did taste some nice honey beer in the USA, though.

I tend to be the same way.
Being of German decent, I had to drink beer at dinner from a very young age. Problem was my father usually bought the cheapest beer available, which for a long time was Grand Union Premium Beer.
As I got older I did find I liked some of the old time American and German Pilsners (sp) though.
Other then that I liked Red Stripe and St. Paulie Girl dark at room temp.
I haven't really drank in around 15 years though.

They ARE good, aren't they? One of life's simple pleasures.

In Vegas, there's a small off-Strip casino with a micro-brewery that brews their own root beer. It's pretty good, but A&W is better, IMO.

Isn't birch beer big in your neck of the woods?

PS...A "friend" told me that the Colorado MMJ dispensaries have "medicated root beer"...My "friiend" hasn't tried one yet, but he may give it a try.

I thought A&W Root Beer was a medication

Birch Beer used to be a biggie here when I was a kid. I'm not sure if it's even around anymore, if it is it's a micro-brew.
I did like it though and drank it all the time when I was a kid.

I don't have many A&W's around here anymore. There's one up in Lake George and the one in Middlebury. The one in Lake George has the hotter car hops, while the one in Vt. is a nicer ride

    Hi All-
Like the post. Getting some great suggestions for when I am able to get out into the world again. There is a brewery close to my hometown called Sierra Nevada, and it is the Big Micro Brewery on the West Coast here in California. Chico California to be exact. The also are open for lunch and dinner, and it is killer! They make all kinds of beer (IPA's, Stouts, Brown Ales, Seasonal's) My personal favorite is there IPA called Torpedo. It rock like a hurricane!

We have an awesome brewery out of Bloomfield Connecticut, USA called Thomas Hooker - their tour is an awesome deal $5 all you can drink from a little 4 oz cup, saturdays from 12pm-5pm

All time favorite of their beer is the Blonde Ale, and their Watermelon Ale (summer seasonal) but they're all delicious, no matter what type of beer is your fav.

For imports, I'm a big fan on New Castle. For domestic, probably Yuengling and Rolling Rock. Canadian - I love Molsen.

Well I have tasted the likes of Heinikken, Fosters, Budweiser and have liked them all. But right now my favourite one is the King Fisher Strong from India which is owned by Vijay Mallaya.

I have tried so many types of beer, but my favorite beer is Budweiser, because it tastes better than others, it is all over the world one of the most popular beer. It is quietly powerful than others. I always drink at the weekend and all Budweiser.

My most favorite beer is "Red Horse" from San Miguel Beer. If you want to test how strong you are in drinking beer, try Red horse. This is the real beer for real men.
