We have a SMART government!

Well, that was what I was told. It may have been true then, or may have been true only for americans, or who knows. I WAS FLOORED(EXTREMELY ASTONISHED) that chinese and arabic were there! Of course norwegian is odd also, since it is understood reasonably well by only people in scandinavia, and they likely understand english, german, or french.

You have to realize that I never traveled to countries outside of america before, and the travel agent I dealt with didn't even know how to get to aarhus!!!!!! It was a good thing my danish aunt could explain it.

I don't know about other countries, or even other STATES in this regard, but California has ID cards! You get them at the DMV(where you would get a license), etc... but they are ***NOT*** licenses. In fact, if you could get a passport, it is pretty much CERTAIN you could get the less informative ID card.

FURTHER, drivers licenses vary from state to state. Last I knew, there were NO standards. So it is a lot to expect foreigners to weed out even some obvious forgeries.

Here in NY that wouldn't of happened.
Here we have specific guidelines and your request is reviewed by a person who checks it for profanity or anything else that may cause a problem.
Sometimes they will request an explanation of what your requested plate means.

Why shoulld HE go to the trouble? As I understand it, they often ask you to explain it AND, if it is reasonable, they give it to you. A MORONIC error in THEIR thought shouldn't cause HIM grief. If it were offically permitted, that would mean ANYTHING could lead to the problem. That means they would be worthless, and the government should simply GET RID of the registration. HECK, I was once told that my tags had an APB out! I planned for WEEKS to change them, but it is a huge expense, a lot of trouble, etc... I am generally NEVER here when I must do it. I eventually decided against it.

I GUESS someone could have picked MY car out of HUNDREDS and in a moderately secure, and probably videoed area with NO idea as to when I would be back, and used my plates.

That is LUDICROUS and DANGEROUS and STILL the police didn't have the right type of car with the APB!

I actually sort of PLANNED this! THAT is why I had a general title, and a short post. So you're in canada. Otherwise, just what I had hoped. So you didn't hijack ANYTHING!

I'm sorry to hear about your plight. I KNOW how bad it can be. I HATE talking on the phone! And people twist your words, remove key phrases, etc... They may wait a day, ask for something, wait a few days, ask for something else, and then you find that they were trying to solve a problem you could solve in the blink of an eye, but it was NOT what you asked them to solve! You then work around it, and they call you back a week later to see if you were satisfied.

I have told over a half dozen companies...."You're KIDDING, RIGHT? You KNOW you didn't do ANYTHING, and call a week later to ask if I am satisfied? HECK NO! I am THIS close to telling the customer that they shouldn't even pay for your support!!!!!".

I ESPECIALLY love when something won't install, and they INSIST that you give them the log created when you run a process with the product. HEY GUY! I am trying to install it so I can configure it, so I can run stuff, and ****THAT**** is when it creates those logs! Get THIS problem fixed, and maybe we can get logs LATER!
