A scary thought...but funny, from the twisted minds at the ONION

I didn't post pic because it expands...just click it.

*to the mods - I know it is (kind of) political...but just poking a little fun :p - I couldn't help myself...

as long as people can be civil...what's the harm? (but I won't mind if u can it)

Um -- where's the joke? Monsanto and Goldman Sachs are already running part of the show. This is not humor - it's veiled honesty with a grin.

No kidding, Sal - (pun intended)

hahahahahahahah - wouldn't it be ironic if they were out in front about how they (corporations/special interest) have been running everything (into the ground another pun) for decades now?

The 'polls' as they are called - (now here is double entendre oxyMORON) PUN:

Polls are just that - 'polls' - thank you so much for your OPINION, citizen. Now back to our regular program where we do whatever we want in spite of what you think.

HHAHAHAHAHAHAH so funny I forgot to laugh.

    • I forsee a day in the not so distant future, where our political candidates will wear sponsor jackets much like they do in NASCAR ...and use product placement in their ads and speeches...

Well, under the law, a corporation IS treated like an incompetent person. The job of its guardian(called the board) is to act in its best interest. So the idea of supporting a candidate makes sense, but running for public office DOESN'T. Of course, sometimes a member of a board may run for public office. Various companies, like monsanto and goldman sachs, seem to be more trouble than they are worth.

Most pollsters don't know how to poll at all! They ask a round about question that may have NO relation to another, and then translate it to mean something else ENTIRELY! An example?

    They might ask.....

    Q. How are you doing financially?

The person may answer FINE, and the pollster figures the person believes the economy is doing OK, so they are happy, so they will vote for OBAMA!

So that is one vote for obama even though the two have NO relation!

HECK, I was doing fine in 2009, even though the economy was bad.

Of course SOMETIMES the pollster PUSHES a given answer, or may simply state it, or there may be a misunderstanding, or the person asked is kidding.

So polls are FAR from perfect.

    3M,

    Are you sure they AREN'T?

You apparently missed my pun Steve.

      Poll - opinion poll

Poll - get out to the polls and vote!

Vote = only an opinion since they don't really count.

I can think of several things that the people clearly voted in the majority for one thing to happen and some commy supreme court dweeb overturned it or they just ignore it completely.

illegal immigration/porous 'borders' is clearly one example of the will of the people being completely thwarted.

...and what about the so-called 'electoral college' - is that still running? they were/are the ones that actually decide how 'the vote' goes...

(don't laugh at me on that last one as i may be uninformed or misinformed - remember i have ignored politics for decades when i realized what a fake it is).

After the Citizen's United ruling I wouldn't be surprised at anything this SCOTUS does.

    Not any more.

Voting, I think, is a waste of time. I also have a theory that it's just the government's way of letting the citizens feel important, that "your opinion matters".

The whole voting thing is just propaganda, smoke and mirrors.

All the voting slips go to the tip while a computer program generates random tally figures in real time. The Illuminate guys are sipping brandy and smoking pipes somewhere, knowing they've already got their next puppet ready for office.

Just wait until the "election" is over and then the "winner" is announced.

Just a theory, no proof at all. Call it " exploring possibilities".

Really used a few quotations there, didn't I.

You're right. You have ONE choice, from a VERY limited selection! Candidates are encouraged to, and expected to, lie to you. The media does NOTHING to vet them. The whole thing is treated like a game. OK, it SHOULD be treated like ONE particular game, POKER in the west! If you were caught cheating, the undertaker would remove you from the place, and put you in a nice suit, JUST like they do with politicians now! Except you would be DEAD, and buried 6' below the ground! They spoke about gerrymandering, extortion, and bribery when I was in school, and ALL were considered FELONIES! TODAY, they openly brag about them, and can do whatever they want. They may rob from peter to pay paul, but they ALWAYS cut THEMSELVES a healthy chunk!

IMHO, it depends on the country whether voting is a waste of time or not.

Here in America, the two main parties clearly have vastly different agendas especially as it relates to the role of government and what benefits the citizens are entitled too in this country.

IMHO, anyone trying to make the case that Americans don't have a real choice has an agenda of their own or simply hasn't done their homework.

That's why I said it's just a theory and I have no proof.

    Everyone has their own agenda.
Most people I knew have done their homework quite well.

He he, I think you're right. Everyone has their own agenda.
I myself believe that corporate entry into politics would worsen the situation. First politics, then internet, what's next?
