It was very telling in his interview that he mentioned an offer too good to resist, so his idea of retirement is not the one we are thinking of. Yes he was place kick specialist but he was an expert at that and made no apologies for it, will be interesting to see what he does next, if only from a human development perspective.

  Yes, he is. I'm not a fan of the guy. Always considered him more a model than a football player but his achievements in the sport are undeniable. I still remember the goal he scored against the Colombian National Team in the France World Cup 1998.

Football writers fantasy. Best remembered for a goal in a game that England did not even win. As a footballer he will be missed like a boil on the bum. Sad thing is we will get even more of him and his family now.

All marketers can learn from his media machine.

He came back from a well publicised affair with his PA and from being the most hated man in the UK where dummy's of him where being burnt and hanged from lamp posts after "he" lost them a major game knocking them out of World Cup.

From that he became the most liked personality in UK and one of the biggest stars in the world.

Like him or loath him, his/his teams reputation management skills are second to none.

He maybe retired from football but not from generating masses of wealth.
