Reminds me of how our horses reacted when we'd let them out to romp in the field. Nobody will ever convince me animals don't have emotions.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I think of mammals as simpler versions of us. They can't talk, or do math (at least not well).

We love our dogs and cats, and think of them as friends. But other mammals are the same, we just see them in a different way.

I've never seen a cow jump around like that. Beautiful.

Reptiles are not fluffy. OK, turtles are kind of cute, but that's it!

Actually, I used to have several Bearded Dragons as pets....and they were kind of fun.

And reptiles can also be women! Yes! Female reptiles who don't have dinner ready until 8:15...when I said to have it done at 8PM precisely!

            This needs to be exposed!

Deep questions that deserve a scientific answer. But I may not be the one to answer it.

I deal only in facts...Imaginary facts, maybe...but facts.

Marsupials deal only in nuts they find in the forests.
Reptiles deal only in grubs, insects, and smaller reptiles.

And I am different. I deal in sarcasm, jabs at ridiculous arguments, and chocolate covered donuts.

I hope my explanation settles the matter....if not, have your people contact my people.

Well, actually, I wasn't referring to any guys on this forum at all. I know a few right out here in the real world, unfortunately.

I wasn't referring to Claude and Dan at all. But now that you mention it, Dan is more reptilian than Claude...snake-like even. I mean he's always all coiled up hiding in the shadows ready to strike at me and spew his venom, poisoning the very words I write and huh? Animosity? No, I don't hold any animosity towards Dan at all. He's my friend. No, really!

I have 3 cows, on a 10 acre pasture, they mow the grass down like there's no tomorrow. When they see the pickup truck heading towards the gate they run & jump like that OP video making their way towards the pasture gate (more hay). Luckily we have a stream on the property for a water supply.

Anyways, keep in mind cows are very expensive to feed/water. The OP video mentioned the owner had to give the cows up because of financial problems, I don't doubt that at all. They'll break the bank If your not making a profit.

BTW, I've seen a 1,000 pound bull jump a 4ft high fence like it was no big deal. I've also seen a hog climb over a 4ft high fence at a hog sale, lol.
Yep, l have seen a stressed out cow, go for a barbed wire fence, get its horns cought and flip over to the other side on its back!

He was ok, but we had to forget about shooing him into the cattle yard after that!

Steers be preferable for steak, especially for males I would think. Wouldn't cow meat have a fair amount of estrogen in it? But in today's society society with "metrosexual" males, maybe that doesn't matter.

Yep, l used to raise steers, which did turn into steak, but in the meantime!....

When l needed to do something in a paddock they were in, they used to get into mischief like these cows.

I remember one time one ran around a tree several times, just for fun, then run up to me to stop about a metre.

A bit scary when a half a ton cow runs up to you, but unless it is a female with a calf, they are relatively calm!

True as Sal has said, cows dogs, etc run on instinct, but occasionally they can think their way through problems, just like we can.

But in this socialpathic controlled planet, we rarely hear of such things!

I don't think I have EVER seen cows act like that! I saw one, and thought WHAT? That couldn't be a stumble! I saw another, and HUH? At one point they were ALL like happy school girls skipping down a street! GRANTED, bulls make the same sort of move to buck and attack, but that was obviously not the intent here.

Sal, I doubt any person or animal could fail to notice the exuberance. Now THERE'S a word I haven't used in a LONG time! Even the farmer used similar words.

I don't see how people don't think animals have feelings.

I do think maybe we have evolved from those beliefs,
and that some always believed as we do.

Pavlov did not believe his dogs had feelings.
He just stuck needles through their cheeks to
    get his saliva measurements.

We had a lot of snow ... didn't everybody? I kept my chickens in the coop instead of letting them free range in the snow. Today's the first day I let some of them out. Here's a pic of one of my roosters before (in the coop) and after I let him out.

I wonder if that's true with all roosters, or if it depends upon which
breed and which side of the Mississippi.

Love the video of the cows. I have seen it many times ... cows running through fields like that, but we live by a lot of farms here so there's cows everywhere.
I've seen lots of cows ALSO! Admittedly, I never saw them JUST as they were let out. I have seen them cooped up, grazing, in rodeos, and in those areas to be processed. The only reaction I saw was upset or boredom. I guess that is what most HERE have seen outside of THIS, where they looked like creatures that were cooped up, and they didn't like it, but they felt FREE after being released.

I love posts like this. The off-topic forum really is a great place for taking a break from "work." Thanks for the post and the equally entertaining replies.

There's no doubt in my mind that animals have feelings and emotions. However, its much easier to enjoy a delicious steak or burger while pretending that they don't have 'em. Sometimes (selective) ignorance truly is bliss.

I don't understand the sad pathetic Sally Struthers background music in the OP video. I seriously doubt there was ever a time that those cows weren't healthy.

NOBODY ever doubted they had the power. Maybe that IS part of it. Maybe some are just drugged or something. As for expense, just the real estate one takes up is something to be considered. Yeah, I doubt ANYONE would think they are cheap.

No doubt one day Claude will wake up and think, why did l put that on there???

And try to remove it, but by then, Dan, most likely would have screen captured it, and started a worldwide multi-million dollar advertising campaign with it.

Probably to sell snake oil, he, he! :p

Trust me, Kay. You don't want to see it. Claude's definition of "frolic" is much different than ours.

Actually, the video of the cows pretty much covers what it would look like. Although there may be more "rolling" than frolicking.

Remember the story of the snake and the mongoose? The mongoose teases the snake, and then kills the snake. Riffle is the snake..and I'm the big bear that eats the mongoose.
