    I watched an investigative show about the DB Cooper case a couple years ago and it went through the entire series of events, stuff from behind the scenes that most people wouldn't know without investigating, most likely suspects, etc and it basically narrowed it down to only a couple guys, one of which was arrested for hijacking another plane and getting caught.

    There were very few people who could have made that jump and survived, so I don't see why the investigation took so long. They were able to narrow down the list of suspects, but I guess proving it was the problem.

    I read somewhere that a young boy found apx $5k in bills buried in a riverbank in western Oregon that turned out to be part of the money that was stolen. It still didn't prove anything, though. Cooper likely purposely scattered money here and there to throw the authorities off the trail. Didn't he get away with around $250k?

      As I recall, the money didn't actually turn up in circulation, so the idea of him having survived wasn't certain. BESIDES, they USUALLY catch the guy by tracking the money.

      HECK, some investigative type series had a similar character killed or trapped in some way, with the loot.

      STILL, it takes a SPECIAL person to do this. I mean most would not even THINK of it, and most that would would just not do it. If they had a REAL honest to goodness viable suspect, and that guy later did the same thing, I would say that all but confirms the suspicion. They should look to tie the evidence together for the first after arresting him for the second. Of course, there are FEW suspects that are that good, and most of THEM are CAUGHT!

      And Negotiable American Currency is NOT that unusual. You want it to be used by americans, to be widely usable at the time. MOST money stolen from banks, etc... is not real negotiable due to tracers, dye packs, and consecutive serial numbers.
