Would you rather pay an outsourced outbound sales call center a flat rate or per sale?

For those thinking of using an outsourced call center, how do you prefer to pay such a company? Flat rate per month with ZERO commission. Or very HIGH COMMISSION and they guide the customer through the payment process?

Which makes more sense?

    Having managed and worked in call centres that do both, the best is the flat rate per month AND some commission based on the number of sales.
    This ensures that people will work hard and turn up for work as well. It also motivates them to work hard to make the extra money.

    Commission only jobs may attract the shifty people who will do anything for a sale, even if it's not "legal."

      That's insulting to say the least. I prefer to work on a strict, high-commission basis. That's the best motivating factor for a professional with talent, a strong work-ethic and self-confidence. How many illegal sales would I make before being fired?

      Additionally, just what is an illegal sale? Perhaps you meant to say 'unethical.' That's more common, but still a fast-track to dismissal.

        LOL....that is what happens when you have so many people chime in about, and/or try their hand at something without having any real practical experience or on the job training.

        I could go to a forum about plumbing or electrical engineering or brain surgery and put in my "opinion" which would be worthless but hey what the heck?

        I agree....selling something "illegally" just is not possible unless the company itself is illegal or you are working for yourself and selling something "illegal".

        Legit companies have a process in place - versifiers get on the phone, depending on the sale and size of sale they may record the transaction.
        Calls are recorded and monitored to make sure no one is lying...and the versifier goes over it anyhow.

        Now....I once worked for an "immoral" company that turned out to be "illegal" in the long run, so of course if we made a sale following their pitch it was "ring the bell, pop the balloon" etc.

        It did not take long before I questioned things...then began getting so many incoming calls complaining....wanting refunds....the owners brushed it all off. I began to feel quesy and I found another job. About 6 months later they and some other similar rooms were busted LOL

    nothing because outsourcing telemarketing does not make much sense in practical.

    The high commission. Always. That way, you are buying customers, and your acquisition cost is guaranteed.

    That's what I would want to pay a call center, or a PPC source.

    My client pays a flat rate per appointment, and the deal has bonuses based on the quality (close ratio) of the appointments generated. He's in the enterprise VOIP space, so the sale is highly consultative and not suitable for telesales.

    We have found that the appointments my agents generate close at approx the same ratio as the ones his reps generate internally, so the bonuses are nice, and keep my staff motivated.
