Where do you learn hard skills?

There are plenty of books, articles and videos about soft skills and general info. But what people really need is step by step blueprint and hard numbers about profitability, conversion rates etc. But these informations are hard to find and they can be very expensive.

So what is your experience, where do you find these informations and where do you get the most value for your money? Is it worth to pay 10x more for online courses than for books, and 10x more for coaches than for online courses?

And what are other good sources? Spying on competition, reverse engineering their sales funnels?

And what about testing everything for yourself? It can be very expensive, slow and there is no guarantee to find the solution.

Have you tried some mastermind groups? Where do you find good coaches? I think if you find somebody who has been there and done that already, it is cheaper to pay him few hundred or few thousand dollars and save even more time and money.
There are also opportunity costs, because you can start making money instead of trying to figure it out.

    What have you learned since then, and how has that affected your thinking? Because you seem to be asking the same things now.

    If you're seeking some kind of hard method of guaranteeing a return on a business before you start, you'll never begin. Any business is an ongoing process. You prepare yourself as best you can beforehand, but you learn the most important lessons as you go along. Often, you'll still be learning years into the business and quite possibly have changed direction several times.

    The point is, don't fixate on learning to the extent that it prevents you from doing something.

    I have used only online courses and testing, but now I want to try coaches, consultants and mastermind groups, because I expect faster results from them. This is why I asked here if somebody has experience with them and how is the value for money compared to online courses etc.

    Just THINKING about margins, CRO etc. is beyond where 99 out of 100 wannabe businesspeople are, in my experience.

    I learned these things in a university education with several years of accounting, finance and cost accounting courses...then using them in the real world in executive roles.

    Today you can get eduation for free on YT and even Harvard offers some of their courses for free. You don't get the certification, but you do get the knowledge.

    Find someone you trust and resonate with as a teacher, and stick to learning from them. It doesn't arrive all once. You are not going to learn everything in a week. You may see something and think, "That's boring," today, only to find it extremely relevant six months from now as you find yourself in a different situation.

    Get a baseline education, then start adding in different perspectives.

    People personality and learning styles are not the same. So, what works great for me might not work at all for you.


    I know this is not what you're looking for, but you have to try for yourself, or describe your learning style in such a way that people with the same style can say, I'm like that and this worked for me.


    You get the best of whatever method you choose if you're able to organize your knowledge and apply it right away.


    They say knowledge is power, I say organized knowledge is power... I know many people who know a lot but cannot do much (or not as much as the sheer amount of knowledge would suggest).


    If you do things right away, they tend to stick and help your brain file the info in the right folder. My humble opinion, only, but I'm right too, right?
