Question About Facebook Maintenance

Hi Everyone,

I am contemplating adding Facebook business page setup to my line-up of services.

I have a rough estimate of a setup fee, however I know there will be maintenance of these pages. What is a good maintenance fee?

      Hi Scott,

Well, I'm thinking that like most Facebook pages, it will have to be updated. For instance depending on the business, they could have specials or discounts running for their business.

So I guess I am thinking of updates and maybe adding friends, stuff like that.

You'll want to do a fb "fan page" since I assume you will be working with businesses and businesses aren't allowed to have regular accounts (tho many local ones do, it's against the TOS). You can't have "friends" on the fan page, but you will get people to "like" the page.

Just wanted to make sure you had the difference down before you dive in!

The key to fan pages is to build a relationship with potential customers, so you can add some killer info everyday to your client's pages (with some offers thrown in). Another great thing to do is to interact daily with their customers by posing a question like "How do you feel about such and such" or "what do you like to do about such and such".

        Good Luck!

If you have a Facebook account, then its maintenance is very necessary. The key to fan pages is to build a relationship with potential customers.

As an account administer, I manage several business Facebook Page accounts on a monthly contract basis. They usually get more "hours" than they bargain for because I deliver more value as part of my - "You can't live without me" strategy. My goal is 8 - 10 hours for $350 a month - about 2 hours per account per week. I deliver content, links, and gather "targeted niche" followers - As an extension I integrate their social media accounts - twitter, blog, YouTube can do some PR and articles to get them great linkbacks.

Deanna, it kind of depends on the client you are working with and how much interaction the two of you agree on.

Generally, I have a lower maintenance package for about two hours per week at $299/mo and a higher maintenance package for about four hours per week at $499/mo.

You should also charge based on the value the client is receiving out of the deal so my prices fluctuate depending on the client.

i get my clients to update their pages themselves

$300 to setup, $100 to maintain (which is really no work since they update it themselves)

Save your money, opening a facebook page is the easiest thing you can do. You can be set up in only a few minutes, then comes adding people. Well that may take time or you can purchase friends up to you.

When setting up "Like" pages for businesses, do you set up a page from your facebook profile or theirs?

it depends whether you want your page to be linked to your profile or to a separate account. Either way, you can do both.

Maintaining a Facebook Page includes having a Social Media Manager and Creative Director to manage the account on a daily basis. Interact with people who comment on the page. Set contests and deals to engage the Fans. Also reputation management....
