As you can see, on my page (look in the 'Social Networking' to the left), you can use just about anything now that you could on a website. Mine has a 'reveal' function so that if they 'like' you, they can see a full-fledged website underneath. HTML5, no doubt. Opt-in on the reveal page. Video and contact forms on the fan page...Whatever you could do on a website, you can do on your fanpage, now. HTML5, php code, javascripts...whatever! Check mine out, 'like' me and look at the Sample Page 2.

How could you not use it for your clients?

      Hi AdBankPro,
      Thanks for your response.
I haven't used Facebook all that much. I guess my question should then be how would I get targetted traffic in Facebook for my client that has a local business and would the traffic be significant enough to justify creating a site in Facebook (generally speaking).

Targeted traffic? Hmmm...off-line clients are not using social media very much because they just haven't figured out how to see a return from it. But if you see it as the NEW Word-of-mouth; now, we're on to something. So, no, they would not get traffic from it unless you started a Facebook marketing campaign (similar to PPC). Now you could target traffic, but there are no reliable tools to research keyword phrases, yet. I wouldn't go that route.

What I would do is set up Social Media in general for your clients as a way to "stay in touch" with their customer base, thank them for their business, answer customer service questions, etc. As they become active in each space, people will be attracted to visit your page or Twitter feed and Youtube channel. The interaction alone will be enough to bring customers to your client to be worth the effort. Plus, they will have a much happier client base.

The kids getting out of college now are making buying decisions involving the products and services of our off-line clients...don't ya know?!!!

Thanks once again for your thoughts on this.
I now have a better understanding of how Facebook can be used.
Just one other question in relation to this.
Is this something you would setup for your client for a single one time fee, or are there opportunities to charge the client a reoccuring fee?

You could do either depending on your client and how Facebook savvy they are.

In order to be most effective, a business needs to interact with their fans on a regular basis but if your client doesn't know their way around FB to do that at the moment, you could charge a monthly fee to make posts on their behalf.

I think its best when a business can do this themselves because they obviously know their business better than anyone else, but it's an opportunity for you to train them or do it for them for a fee if they're not up to the task.

Facebook offers free traffic to those who use it adequately, and target markets a certain niche. Facebook can also be a gold mine, if you play your cards right

Many people use Facebook to target groups. You can join groups and start groups that will bring targeted traffic.

I have set up over 50 fan pages for offline clients and I tailor it to each client.

Here's an example, for a Bar I got them to hire me to create the fan page, then I got them a vanity URL after 25 likes. Once that was done they got bermats made with the URL and put up flyers offering free entry to their gig if people clicked 'like' and got a coupon to print out and show on the door.

They doubled their bar sales that night :-)

It's all about the client, just think a bit and come up with some ideas for them and they'll love you for it.
