A Script That Works For Calling Offline Businesses

Been having great success with the following script when calling offline businesses.

Business types have been owners Of Real Estate Brokerages, Immigration Services,
Bookbinding. Certainly not limited to them.

Before calling them, I do research to see how I can help them.

I'm looking for ways that I can easily make a big impact.

It's also helpful they have made some attempt to do something similar to what I offer so that it's not foreign to them.

This allows me to offer a free trial which leads into a monthly retainer.

The purpose of the call is to see if there is a match and for the other person to ask me what I offer.

At this point I say "Tell you what, what if I [what you do] and come back to you and show you the results...no charge?"

And the opening to the phone call goes like this, "Hi [name] it's Ewen here, just calling to see if you are open to the idea of [way to help his business]?"

You just shut up and let him talk.

If he stops or asks a question, just say "Yes I see, tell me more about [a point in his talk].

Continue to do this until he asks how you can help.

Never come across something so darn simple and effective, that I can't wait to pick up the phone and make the next call.

Best,
Ewen

    Hi Ewen,
How do you find out that they have made an attempt to do similar things to what you are offering?
    All the best,

Hi Buddy, what what service do you offer, or proposing...so that I can better help in your situation?

      Best,

Eh, I never would do that. Many of the businesses around here, I deal with more of the top dogs. People that are successful don't believe you're successful if you don't get paid for your work.

The key to cold calling, is believing in yourself and believing you really do have a good product or service to offer them.

Loss leaders are certainly common in marketing, as are competition blockers. This would serve both purposes.

They know you aren't running a charity.

When asked to put in a proposal you are doing stuff for free in the hope of getting the deal.

Of course, my way becomes less viable when you are doing one off jobs like website design.

I'm talking about doing things that naturally fit into a paid monthly model.

Even if you ignore the last bit of the script and go with just the opening,
I would expect you to have greater success than your present opening.

      Best,
      Ewen

I think the biggest thing that you said that would help me, is to shut up and listen. I find myself going on and on quite often not even knowing if they are interested, when I should let them talk and take interest in them.

          Cool.

Good point about shutting up and listening.

As I said, I'm LETTING THEM TALK so they ask how I can help them.

Give that opening a go and you'll be surprised by the difference it makes.

          Best,

I think this post is excellent personally ewen I cant wait to try it myself. It sounds like something I kind of do naturally but have never thought of developing an organized sales tactic around it, looking at it from your objective perspective one can really see how that works.

    What a refreshing post!
