Local business website question

Hello
I would like to check something with you. A friend of mine asked me to help her with her business site. This is thefirst site I would do for an offline business. (probably will not charge or charge very little).


Obviously she has her domain already which does not have any keywords related to her business.

So my question is the search volume for the business is not high in the city. So the busiess is kids parties, so DO I just add as a title of the site kids parties + city although teh search volume for the city is under 200 a month?

Does anyone know of any good free wordpress template that could be more suitable for this ype of business, or anyone one should work?

It is a simple site to start with with photo galleries and information about packages.

    Can't really help you with a free wp theme IMO most of the free ones are really basic and they are a lot harder to customize. Now with the title I'm getting the feeling that you haven't fully researched your keywords properly, (think of themes for kids parties) and also i suggest using the wordpress SEO plugin (that's what its called).

    Thanks electronik for yoru reply. YOu mean I should researc hthe different themes for kids parties and possibly include one of them or a couple in the title, depending on my research.

      I agree - you should really do a thorough keyword research for this website. One way to see complementary keywords to kids parties is to use Google Wonderwheel. By using this free tool, you'll be able to find other keywords that will help you determine content and create a blog ring that is appropriate to your target. For example, wonder wheel would show kids party games, kids home parties, etc. In this way you've built authority around your niche.

      Does this help? Can't help with free templates. As Andrea says the free ones are not useful. You might try Studio press to find a template - pretty cheap and WELL done.

      Well first of all check what your competitors are ranking for, then what I would do is talk to your client and see what is coming up as a popular theme when doing business, and then just add those and you don't have to have those keywords in the title to rank for them, i've seen people rank just as well just having some of their keywords just in the meta description.

    You should really check out ThemeForest. You can find a theme to suit almost any kind of business there. Considering that you said that your friend runs a party business catered to kids, you should look for a theme that is lively and has vibrant colors. You can easily add a custom header/logo to give whatever theme you choose some flair; but, you should be able to find something to get her site going without much customization.

    As for the title of the site and the specified keyword, here's what you need to do FIRST. Sit down with your friend and find out what her goals are with this website; ask her questions about her financial goals for the business and let that lead you a bit. She might want a lot of new business or she may just want to pick up a few new clients here and there. That can help you determine which keywords to go after when taking into account the actual search volume for each. You also want to find out who is in her target market, as this will also help you with your keyword research.

    Whatever you do, don't just assume you know which keywords to target. Actually, don't assume anything (about your friend's business or anyone else's). Always do an assessment of a business before starting any work for them so that you have a clear idea of their deficiencies; in doing so, you'll be able to map out an effective marketing stategy to bring them the results they want. You also don't want to set up false expectations in your clients' minds, so it's best to know what the desired outcome is before you get started.

    O.k...based on your question and the responses to the answers, I think you should hire one the warriors that provides keyword research.

    You don't want to start your friends site on the wrong foot. If your off on the keywords, everything else will be a waste of time.

    Since your doing this for free or little, have them pay the fee for the keyword research.

    Forget the free themes, you can buy premium ones for cheap.

    Themeforest is a great place to find one, as someone already mentioned above.
