Don't believe all the hype that these large companies sell you. You would really come out better by outsourcing the local listings so that you have some proof to show your customers. And as far as search engine submissions, you can get tons of those (at least 500) for maybe about five bucks.

Thats great to hear....You're sharp if you can get $800 in auto maintenance traded out for a website....and I completely agree, John is awesome.

PS- if you didnt already know, John runs a telemarketing forum at: www.thetelemarketingforum.com and is great info and scripts for generating leads/sales. Not affiliated in anyway...just useful info here.

That is truly awesome. I agree with John- You are an inspiration, and your enthusiasm IS most definitely infectious. I think it is fair to say that reading your thread here will light a fire under someone who is ready and waiting for the right spark to ignite it. At any rate, it is very cool all around. It warms my heart to hear stories of people in tough spots finding it within them to take the bull by the horns and wrestle up a new path for themselves. Keep all of that positive, productive energy going. It'll bring you more than you could ever hope for. That is my hope for you anyway

I also agree with you in that John is an inspiration. If you are reading this, John, you have a way of taking that piece of hope inside of people that wants to believe it is possible to succeed at making a living with offline marketing, and helping them to explode that spark of possibility and inspiration into something great- Action! It only gets better from there. Everyone has to choose to sit on the tracks and get run over or move, but it does take a special coach/teacher to help another find the courage to try when it may feel easier to give up.

It's great to hear stories of people trying a method regardless of their fear of not knowing everything.

Don, alot of your customers will string you along for months waiting for materials which is why if youi can get paid up front its good... then its their own fault if you didnt finish in time.

on another note, it can cause stagnation if you are subconsciously waiting on her before you do more business... I would go out and get more business if she's slow and let her come around when she's ready to take advantage of her investment.

On another note, I have to say I used to be embarrased and not know how to take threads like these, but then I wrote a letter to someone last night who has really inspired me, and it would be a travesty for me not to tell them that... and I told them, as I often, when Im inspired do how much their inspiration meant to me...Like yourself Don... NO MAN can Bless John Durham without being blessed... I will see to it. And so you have here! Thank you! I recieve it.

And you know what? I needed to express that.

So I have come to terms with the fact that if someone is inspired by something you say, its okay to allow them to express that, and not feel like you are a "glory hound" or something... Because people need to tell those who inspired them "Hey you were a life saver to me..." its part of their way of appreciating and some are more enthusiastic than others, about showing that. Its all good. I LOOOOOVE the people who inspire me!

I still listen to those audios of Johns often. About an hour 3-4 times a week while doing my morning walk in the park. Audios 5 - 8. Been doing it for a month. Im trying Direct Mail right now but im warming up to the 800 lb Gorilla. lol

Thanks Bkat for the props there...- Its just timeless principles - One can make it sound as fancy as they want- but its just "CONTACTING PEOPLE" and telling them you have a service to offer, and finding out if they are interested.

Someone always is if you stay at it.

Here's the timeless truth - "If you are doing that (contacting people consistently and making an offer) then you are going to get business".

Simple.

Again that offends alot of people who feel that me telling newbies they can do this, undermines their professional "sales person" status, but still, regardless of how that offends, the fact remains that 100 new 18 year old high school dropouts will take telemarketing jobs in call centers today, and most of them will write more business than most "professional consultants" on the WF will, and most of them arent consultants , I hate to say it, but its true. Most of them are selling a canned "package", packages that include things like SEO... that will really bring customers value.

These canned packages are being sold by these teenagers on the phone for much more reputable and successful companies than any consultants you see around here owning.

In fact most of the people here who tell you that canned packages are worthless to sell "offer some", and will gladly let you sell one of theirs, and if you can bring them a customer, they wouldnt care how inexperienced you were. They wouldnt turn down your customer because you werent qualified to sell...

Despite what most critics tend to think "The marketing directors at Yellowbook 360 and ATT, are smarter than them... and their marketing department probably knows more about SEO than they do... and they CERTAINLY know how to do more business than most critics do...". That is unless you know someone who signed up 1000 customers this week.

Here's the point - All of these companies use "cold calling", and they use inexperienced people on the phones...

Its not rocket science, just pick up a phone and start offering people your service, and someone will say yes.

I say all this to say that success is for EVERYONE!

A motivated high school drop out will out perform a college graduate who is always looking for an easier way.

Movers and shakers are more valuable than know it alls... and ANYONE here can be that much!

In closing,

You are doing the basic thing that gets people business while everyone else scratches their heads re writing their pitches..., you are making contact with business owners and offering yourself as a resource. Seriously thats all it takes to write business. The best way to get a good pitch is to just get on the phone and bang it out till it starts working honestly...not much rocket science there. I have a million pitches... and every single one of them will work, but not untill you can master it and say it properly, thats going to go with ANYTHING you pitch...

Sure I will sell you a report on how to do it...if you like, but I will tell you right now, you can do it without any reports. Just get on the phone and start talking to people offering ANY service. It will all start falling into place.

All it takes is guts. You have those apparently.

Ps. You dont have to know "everything", you only need to know how to represent your product. If you dont have one , there are a ton of warriors here who offer products, services and packages - Hook up with someone else here who sells a service package, and learn the features and benefits of it -Easily done within 24 hours...learn how to explain it, and then go present it to someone and make some CASHMULA!

If someone says "You dont know enough about implementing to sell..." Then say "Okay what do YOU sell? I will represent YOUR package and YOU can implement and I will sell".
