Some Statistics to Use For Offliners Selling Mobile Websites

Just read a great study by MarketingProfs that shows 40% of smart phone users are frustrated by navigating websites on their mobile phones (presumably because they're not optimized). Another 40% said slow downloads are a problem, while 20% said difficultly reading and finding information was the biggest problem with their smart phone Internet experience. These are some great statistics to use when pitching mobile site design or when making a presentation about mobile marketing.

  • Nice Find!

And thank you so much for sharing...

  • Thanks for sharing, with 60% stating navigation/reading problems that is a powerful statistic to use with a prospective client.

    • Thanks for the great info fitz10.

That's what I've been doing as of late. Just collecting stats on mobile websites and using that as my 3rd party proof.

The responses that I get when I present the information are priceless.

Eyebrows raised...with the hmmmm...I didn't know that look.

      Gotta love that.
  • THANK YOU ! fitz10 exactly what I was looking for !

    • No problem!

I definitely find that using statistics from "trusted authorities" like major business magazines, research studies, etc. gets clients' attention. It just further reinforces your authority.
  • That is a strong point in "convincing" the offline clients...
  • It is also worth checking how many people scan the QR codes (US survey)

  • Something else I also noted, most of the smart phone users are not serious buyers, their conversion rate in terms of sale or deal is almost negligible.

    • That's true and something I noticed when reading this article as well. I can't help but wonder though how many of those people are not buying because the navigation and shopping experience on smartphones sucks. I have Amazon sites that get a ton of mobile traffic and people definitely buy but that's because Amazon works great on mobile, even older non-smartphones. I wonder if once m.commerce gets better people will start to buy more.
  • Some nice stats there Heather however worth pointing out it says the survey was conducted on only 150 smart phone users. That's quite a small sample.

These things are coming out so hard and fast it's hard to keep on top of them all. However they are all saying the same thing. Mobile is here and people want more user friendly experiences on their smart phones. Good news for all of us.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Will, you're right the actual sample size is small but I think the problems remain the same as you said.
