Do Google Places Reviews have anchor text?

Hello

Apologies if this is a simple question, I just would like to confirm whats in my head...

Citations...understand them completly

Reviews... I am a little confused

Does a review for a business have an anchor text link to a Google Places listing or the companies website?

Also, when a review is counted... are they still counted if they are on the same website as others. Say for example, laterooms has 10 reviews for a hotel, are they are all still counted or better if people have reviews on blogs

Again, thankyou. Just the last few things i am looking to clear up on my mind

Many Thanks

Lorna

    Hi Lorna,

Citations are mentions of a business's name+address, name+phone number, only phone number, or name+address+phone number on the same web page in close proximity (if possible).

Reviews do not really have anchor text to the Places listing of the business or the company's website. Reviews get picked by Google and associated with the respective Place page in two main ways:

    1. Via trusted sources (Citysearch, Insiderpages, Judysbook, Kudzu, Qype, Urbanspoon, until recently also Yelp and Tripadvisor).

    2. Via purposefully marked up review rich snippets (check here)

Reviews are counted as regular number and as number of sources they come from. For example:

On Place page A there are 5 reviews from Review Site A
On another (competitor) Place page B there are 6 reviews from Review Site A
With other things equal, the second Place page should rank higher

    However, if:

On Place page A there are 5 reviews from Review Site A and 1 review from Review Site B
On Place page B there are 6 reviews from Review Site A
With other things equal, the first page should rank higher.

    I hope I was helpful.
