Texting Prospects | Here's My Script

Ok, so i have been thinking about sending text messages to prospects with the following wording:

"Hi ____ I found your contact number in the _____. my name is Ryan Lester and I do website design, website re-design, analysis and advisory services for small and medium businesses. I would like to call you to discuss how I can help you improve your digital marketing to help you get new clients for your business. What is the best time to give you a call?"

Please critique my script.

Thanks

What script do you actually need?

You are talking SMS right, and not email?

I know this is not everyone, so don't take it like that... but I'd either...

    1. Be pissed off that I got an unsolicited text message like that, which places you along the same lines as spammers who are hawking iPhone and Direct TV CPA offers...

    2. Or, I'd ignore it.... because...

    1. Again, I didn't knowingly opt in to get it
    2. It's not from someone I know

That said, again that's just ME, and I love texting, but I hate getting text spam... unless it's from a company whose list I am on...

I think you'd have better luck calling to be honest.

Don't spam people with un-solicited text messages.

I don't know man, cold calling or emailing someone is one thing - I think cold texting and invading people's pockets crosses the line in my book, and that's without even looking at the legality of things depending on where you live Spam: Unwanted Text Messages and Email | FCC.gov

Why not just call them if you've got their number?

Sorry, nothing personal, but I'm always amazed when I see web designers or others who can make hundreds or thousands of dollars from one new client and they gravitate towards the cheapest and least effective ways to get business like email and now texting.

If you're offering services that can really help a business, why not spend a few dollars to send a Fedex letter and be certain that your message gets noticed?

Don't do it. Way too much of an invasion of privacy.

    Furthermore, awful positioning.

It would make a good phone script though... Short to the point, doesnt waste anyones time... you could set phone appointments for yourself with it calling live.... As far as texting... It would just seem too strange, and give that stalker feeling IMO - "I know what you did last summer" kinda thing.

Instead of texting, I would use that script for a voice mail broadcaster campaign as it is still legal to call business to business.

    Something like this:

"Hi, I found your contact number in the _____. my name is Ryan Lester and I do website design, website re-design, analysis and advisory services for small and medium businesses. I would like to take 5 minutes of your time to discuss how I can help you get new clients for your business. Please call me back at 407-555-5555?"

and run it at a time when I know the businesses are closed. Or if I am running during the day a variation of the above with the option for them to press "1" to be connected back to me.
