Is offline marketing a proper business?

To me it seems, all advertising methods are considered spam and there is much more work and stress than other jobs with less results and income, but that's just what it looks like to me, it could be different.

Is this really a proper career path?

If you really want it to be a "career path" then you can make it so. But if you go in with the mindset that it is just a waste of time or something that would never be able to supplement you income...then it will be just that.

And when you say "offline marketing" what type of marketing are you thinking about? Marketing for your own businesses or for someone else's businesses?

      As in B2B offline consulting.

I deal with helping businesses in the B2C marketing. I run a lead generation business that supplies call centers with leads and I've just started a business that runs direct mail marketing for local businesses.

I can live off the money I make from these businesses but I have 9 to 5 that allows me to work these businesses at the same time. Plus my 9 - 5 gives me benefits and I have a family so I need the benefits.

First of all good marketing is about as far from spam as you can get.

Good marketing is finding ways to educate your prospect on how a
product or service will genuinely benefit.

And it's doing it in a way that makes it very easy for them to buy.

That has nothing whatsoever to do with spam.

Is it a proper career path?

If you go out of your way to make sure you work with clients of high
integrity and you also make sure you help your clients make more in
profits than they pay you in fees then obviously its a career path
where you'll be helping everyone involved.

    Kindest regards,

If you start out with the belief that this line of work is spam, and that you're not creating value at every turn, don't get into it. Find something more physical, less ethereal, and go do that.

There are hundreds of people here on WF and thousands and hundreds of thousands in the country that run an offline marketing business and do it successfully. Meaning, they do it as a side job or even as their only source of income...and they do well at it.

We do it as our ONLY source of income and live comfortably and happy. As with anything, if you don't understand it and want to do it, LEARN. If you don't think it will work...then your subconscious will make that happen.

The point is, if you want to make it happen then learn and do, if you don't think it's for you, then find another way to make a living.

I've seen this dozens of times. Someone gives a business a short, ineffective effort, and then questions if it's what they should do. Really, I understand.

And in every single case, the person was gone. In every case, I couldn't save them.

So, if you are at the stage where we need to sell you on offline marketing, it's time for you to quit.

In fact, you've already quit. Your post was a wave goodbye.

It isn't personal, most people don't have it in them to run a business or sell. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

At least you gave it a mild effort, which is more than most.

No, it's not. Nobody's made any money with it. Ever. Not even Dan Kennedy, Yanik Silver, or me. Really. I did not. The $735 I got from an insurance guy for a mobile site exists only in my mind and my bank account, nowhere else.

Why is it that people always blame it whatever it is, never how they do it.

This disturbs me....being an Offline/Internet Marketing Consultant is one of the most sought after businesses in the world right now. If you are looking for a "get rich quick scheme" then try affiliate marketing.

I have made my career marketing to business owners Full Time since 2008, that is all I do, used to manage biz owners accounts , now I consult business owners and start up companies.

Will get off my soap box now....

Last year I took in $202,000 from selling local online marketing services. Really.
That's part-time. I also own a retail store that I work out of, and am a full time writer and speaker. So that effort was very part time.

Granted, it took a few years to get here...but I know there are several here that are doing better than I am...

      Yes, it's a proper business.

Tim; It isn't for you. Asking if a business is "Proper" or "Spam" isn't a question. It's asking permission to quit.

You have my permission. Again, this isn't personal. I was much the same at your age. Good luck, young man.

If you could get 250 people out of this whole big world of millions upon millions of people to pay you $97.00 per month, does that seem like a good career path?

Thats five relatively easy sales per week.

Question: Are you going to have to have better work ethic than an average person to accomplish that?

    Answer: Yup

Question: Are people looking for an easy ride going to accomplish it?

    Answer: Nope

    Question:
Would it be worth it to have $300,000 per year in residual income?

    Answer: Yup

Question: Are there going to be bumps in the road?

    Answer: Yup

    Question: Can it be done?

    Answer: Yup.

Question: Is there going to be Attrition?

    Answer: Yup

Question: Can you scale it out and do four times that much

    Answer: Yup

Question: Is an average person going to accomplish it?

Answer: Only if they quit thinking, and behaving like an average person.

If you want to be average it's easy, just dont do anything that stretches your potential.

Great way of saying it John!!!
It starts with taking risks, trial and error, pro and cons...
But more importantly, you have to be your own cheerleader and believe with your actions that you can accomplish. The best thing is to try not to overwhelm yourself and take it one step at a time. Just look at others success as motivation that it CAN be done with the right mind set :-)

You could find something "wrong" with every profession.

The key is to follow your interests/personality and get
enough QUALITY information to make an INFORMED decision.

Read and learn more here, unless you have in fact said good by.

Also, do an internship or do free or paid work for someone of
quality and high morals who is doing what you think you
    want to do.

I echo the bulk of the comments here. If you are looking for a get rich quick scheme, the requires little effort, stop now. If you don't like being in front of people presenting and selling to them personally (often feeling very uncomfortable), stop now. If you are really looking for a career path, treat it as any other career, invest time (and money if you are doing it for yourself) in developing competence and reputation, but don't expect it to happen overnight

Or course it is, its like any other service based business. You build your accounts numbers out and make money.

Like an accountant, he's going to want more clients to pay him monthly
Like an offline consultant, you're going to want to get more clients to service

Its just normal business. I should note that business consulting is all about relationships, trust is what gets you the business being able to deliver helps aswell.
