If your ad reads or your "sales people" act like your post I'd guess 0%.

If you're lucky, you'll get the one guy who realizes this isn't going to work for you and he'll enter knowing he'll be guaranteed a new TV.

sorry about the caps guys. but, you spent more time commenting on my posting than helping.
by the way: the establishment is making sure we give away the led tv because we will have with us at the mall....so it is for real.............for real....and some will definitely win at end of day.
    thanks again guys.

There isn't much to respond to. Where are you targeting these mall-goers? At the entrance to the mall, in a certain store, the bathrooms, in the ceiling rafters, in the kids section of the book store?

Is it just you on foot chasing people down?

If you set up a toll booth at the entrance and force shoppers to give an email address before they can enter the mall then you'll have 100% of the email addresses of the people you let in.

are you doing the promo for a business that is not in the mall? is it an appliance business that sells TV's or are they just giving one away to collect emails.

Hopefully you've checked your state laws regarding contests or raffles like this.

so its a one day raffle in exchange for the emails? will happen if you only get about 10 emails? and what is the true value of the TV not retail. ex: amazon's price without shipping. will you just toss the raffle. where will the winner be posted, etc..

without knowing any details I'd say your response will be <5%. It would probably work better if you set it up to have no face to face interaction with the mall shoppers

There are so many variables as described by Robert above that this question is pointless to answer.

You should be asking us what you should be doing once they entire their email address. Are you using an Ipad to capture (if not... you should).

Are you sending them an immediate response? If not, you should.

What does your follow-up sequence look it? Every 1-2 days? If you don't have one, you should.

Are you incentivizing them via email to go to your customers website/location every 2 emails in the sequence? If not, you should.

      Amen.

I feel a WSO spam/scam effort in the making.

I agree with Voasi, why ask us the %. Your doing it, so you will soon find out.

It matters how you are capturing the emails. BUT! before that...
Who is doing the asking? A well groomed, well mannered person, or a bunch of your mates that don't work, so they have time to help you out in exchange for beer?

With any face to face sales you need to impress people and make them feel comfortable.

If your only question is how many people are going to sign up, you need to stop and think.

Secondly, why are you capturing emails? Are you explaining this? You can get 1000% emails, but if everyone then unsubscribes because they don't care, then your whole mission was pointless.

It is like all these people giving away ipads, any guy will sign up for tampon info, if he has a chance to win an ipad, he knows he can unsubscribe afterwards.

      Work out your plan first.

I have a few clients that have some something similar and it is always under 1% of the "expected traffic". More like .3% of the expected traffic.

Let us know what happens... kind of pointless to guess on the response, you'll find out when it happens.

I just wanna know what mall gets 40K customers a day????! Mall of America?

People don't stop to fill out "win" things unless it's something they may be interested in, or unless they NEED a tv (or what you are giving away). My email address, name, personal info and sanity is worth way more than that TV. Not to mention, why do you want email addresses of 40K people that probably don't want or need your product/service?

What goal are you trying to reach? You're going to end up with email addresses of people that haven't been qualified, and probably aren't in the market for what you are selling. You're better off buying a random list and calling it, you'll get the same result for less than the price of the tv you're giving away.

I'm sorry to sound like this. I mean no disrespect....

But you have very skewed expectations. The vast majority of people would never sign up for a free...anything.

Yeah, 40,000 people a day? That's possible, I suppose, but maybe their record day around Christmas.

If you get 200 people a day to fill out a form, you're doing well.

And you are concentrating on the wrong thing. Do you sell TVs?
No? What do you sell? Wouldn't it be better to get people who are actually interested in what you sell? They are out there.

    Just a thought.

Wait! Are you going to give away the TV after just one day?

Back in 1981, I was at a mall where they were doing something like this. The prize was a Ford Mustang.

I had to enter. Had no car. Plus it was a Mustang!

For a TV, nah. I already got that.

How are you advertising the give away? Are you just hoping people will pass by, guess there's a give away?

Did you hire a couple of 20 something, gorgeous, appropriately dressed (tight and skimpy clothed girls for the men, big chest, big (naked) biceps, square jaw (you know, the dudes on Silhouette and Harlequin Romance books) for the ladies? Have you ordered things to eat? drink?

How are you going to have a party, then?

Read Chett Holmes book... He has a couple of things to say about this kind of thing.

I'm with you, I think hiring girls with skimpy dresses, big chest, big biceps, and a square jaw...would be a fantastic idea.

Giving away a TV, I think you're going to get a lot of responses from Males. I dont think ladies think TV's are cool enough to offer their contact info.... However, if you get attractive girls to promote it and target men. You'll do better

Many moons ago one of my first advertising programs was providing free Placemats to restaurants. These were usually 11 hi by 14 wide with an Ad for the restaurant in the middle and Ads of local businesses around the edges.

After I had been doing this for a few months, one of my advertisers was an appliance store and I noticed his new tvs were selling for $300. So, I got one of my "Hot Flashes". Instead of charging $290 for my Ad I told him I'd put him in at no charge IF he would provide one of his tvs I could use with the placemat program.

I told him I'd place his tv in the lobby with the name of his store. I'd have a sign saying; "Win This TV from Adams Appliances. See Entry Forms on placemats."

Diners would fill in the Form on the placemat and.....put them in the FishBowl next to the cash register.

The idea here was to grab Mailing Addresses of diners so we could MAIL out coupons and bring diners back.

The promo went great ad we collected about 300 Forms in each restaurant I did this with.

UpDate to 2013, WillR has a WSO where he tells how Warriors can make money from restaurants by placing one of Will's TERRIFIC Signs next to the cash register. Signs say; "Scan this Code to get 10% OFF your bill!"

This was an "INSTANT" reward for snapping a picture of the QR Code (There was also a URL address for those without a SmartPhone.)

The idea here is to gather EMAILS of diners so they could be contacted for "SPecial" occasions or to entice diners to come in for a discount or freebie to....GET THEM BACK IN!

Apparently this works because I know a number of Warriors who are doing this.

Anyway....back to the "Mall" question; I think it's Too General to try and grab "contact info" from "Mall" visitors. WHo would pay you to contact those who signed up? Why would they pay you? What would you send the "Signers"?

Or....on the Entry Form you could place Boxes to check indicating their interest in specific items....and send offers to those who indicated interest in specific areas.

      Again....I think it's too General.

I think that this question is too general. And the results will depend on too many factors, as has been stated in these threads. Perhaps, if you take the concept of what Don wrote above me, and modify it a little, you will have more people participate. I also think you should take in to consideration the gender comments above. I really wish you the best of luck.
