Verifying doorhangers

When launching a doorhanger campaign, how do people verify the doorhangers are actually delivered? One of the reasons I never planned on doing flyers before EDDM is because I wouldn't know whether the people I hire don't just do a couple of streets and then dump the rest in the river before taking their pay. Or just leaving one at every 4th house and hiding the rest somewhere.

The first thing that comes to mind is driving through the neighborhood to see how many doorhangers are up; one way the employees could foil that is to say the homeowners must have already taken the hangers in. Does anyone know a better way to make sure they all get delivered?

If you really want to verify, they have been delivered, you have to do exactly that, VERIFY they have been delivered.

That means, you have to drive down the streets you have previously defined, they should been delivered to and check if this is the case. You might need to knock on the door somewhere and really ask to verify that.

You might mostly going to avoid that the ones you hire throw them away, by defining clearly how they have to proceed, like when to deliver and where to. And letting them know, this will be verified. It might also help to know, how long it takes roughly to do the job and as example, having them return back once they are done. Maybe to take the next batch for delivery, even. And maybe ask them something they could have only know, if they have been at a location really.

I don't know about where you are, but at least in Germany the post office offers different services for that too, which is one way to make sure the job is really done. The postman has to go his routes anyway and has a lot more to lose, in case he would throw the flyers just away. So you have some safety here, most everything would be delivered.

    Btw... what is "EDDM"?

US Post Office Program, Every Door Direct Mail, where they deliver to every door on a route for little. A while back, it was $0.14/piece.
