  • PPC and SEO are two separate things. One does not affect the other. Google has said as much (although I know some don't believe it). It also would not make sense. If you give a boost to organic results just because PPC is used, you may be affecting those SEO results negatively. I believe they would be affective negatively. After all, your organic ranking is lower for a reason. Google does not want poorer results to outrank better ones, either organically or sponsored ones. It goes against their best interest.

    One response is that there can be an indirect benefit. The only benefit I can think of is that you may have your organic listing and your PPC show on the result page. In other words, you are taking more real estate and increasing your exposure. That does NOT mean that your PPC is helping increase your organic rankings.

    I'm also of the opinion that PPC can help SEO. PPC provides hard data that SEO lacks that can be used for SEO purposes. It makes sense to apply what you learn in PPC to SEO as there are similarities. This could help your SEO efforts.

  • PPC and SEO both are different things. If you run paid campaign, it's doesn't mean your target keywords appear in top ranking in organic listings. You can get fast results from paid ads as compare to SEO technique because get top ranking in organic listing taking time.

      While according to Google there is no algorithmic adjustment, or preferential treatment of AdWords advertisers on organic search results, the question posed "Does PPC have effect on SEO?" In my opinion, the answer is absolutely, yes, and it is based on my own experience. The effect comes specifically from the promotional benefits of advertising.

  • I don't understand Slade's first part of the quote. Sure you want to raise awareness of your brand such as dburk is a great online marketing company. But how is this exactly having an impact on SEO, particularly if there's no link? The second part of course is what PPC is all about.

    Girdwood's quote is true. But that should not be the focus of PPC. Sure, you could get a PPC click and the clicker creates a link that helps SEO. But seems this would be rare. The purpose of the click was primarily to make a conversion. You don't use PPC in the hopes that the one in one hundred will do something that helps SEO. So while possible, there's a danger here that some will do PPC for that reason only which is the wrong reason.

    • Time, traffic and actions. PPC attracts buyers if targeted the right way and given that word of mouth is the best form of advertising and I hesitate to say word of MOUSE is the best SEO driver. Having happy customers who share their experience naturally combined with quality content that you drive qualified traffic to is in my opinion the best way to improve SEO. Sure it helps to lubricate SEO somewhat to help lower PPC costs and improve results but when you are getting a good ROI it only makes sense to keep driving traffic by any method and keep capitalising whilst you can.

  • I have noticed good SEO impact, especially for brand terms when used PPC. For example a brand new site that get plenty of FB ads, can get all of it's pages on page 1 for the brand keyword in literally 2-3 days.
