Testing Plenty of Fish Pass-through Tokens?

I am fairly new to Plenty of Fishing advertising. In my research, I've discovered pass-through tokens. That is, being able to pass on the age, gender, and state of the PoF profile to your landing page.
I am not the world's greatest web developer, so I want to ensure things work correctly before I send off my landing page for approval. What is the best approach to ensure the end result looks like say,
"These ladies are looking for 27 year old men."
as opposed to
"These ladies are looking for year old men."
or
"These ladies are looking for <?=$age?> year old men."
