I can see by the responses you are getting to your questions that the answers are missing the mark a bit, As someone that has been using PPC advertising on a daily basis for more than 12 years, let me try try to clarify a few things that previous responders have either missed or do not yet understand.

The main advantage to PPC Search advertising is that you can target the exact customers that are interested in your product, or service, at the exact moment they are interested. You never have to pay for your ad impressions, you only pay for visitors that click to visit your website, or click to call your business phone.

While it is true that you must carefully manage your campaigns, you should do that regardless of which type of website promotion you use, so this isn't something that applies only to PPC campaigns.
