One can add html code to thank you pages to track sales when spending money on advertising. I know if you have your own product you can just add this html code to your thank you pages to properly track your sales when spending money on ads. How can one do the same when promoting affiliate products that you dont own? The same as in be able to somehow track sales conversions when spending money on ads? Someone enlighten me

When someone see your thank you page, what the code does is tracking how many people click your page before the thank you page. Whether you sell your own product or you sell others, it works the same. Hope this help

I know you can do that for tracking leads but what I mean is tracking affiliate sales so that it pops up on google ads
      Signature
If you are not willing to risk the usual, you will have to settle for the ordinary

You ask the product owner to place the code for you.

If your affiliate network allows conversion pixels or the equivalent, you can specify a script to fire on the vendor's thank you page.

So if one of your visitors buys a product, the vendor will display your script on their thank you page.

Every affiliate network is different so read up on their documentation.

    You have 2 options.

    1. Track clicks that direct users to an affiliate page. It's not as accurate because you don't actually know that a sale will be made, but it's a good indicator of interest if you get clicks.
    2. If the affiliate network allows you to specify a custom parameter, you can append the gclid parameter when sending traffic to the affiliate. Then, when you get affiliate sales, download the report and extract the gclid, and then report offline conversions to Google by supplying the gclid.

As far as I know, there is no other good way of dealing with this issue.

To track sale or leads that responsibility fall on the shoulder of your affiliate network. But you can use third party tracking pixel and put it on the offer section or you can ask your affiliate manager. They will easily place your tracking pixel on the advetiser's thank you page.
