Hi guys, I am currently building a blog and want to monetise it. I have a couple of affiliate links on it and an adsense tower in my sidebar. The method, or one of the guides I am following, to build my blog is John Yeo's bloggers paycheck. In his guide he talks about getting an alexa rank under 200,000 and a PR of 3 to attract advertising to blog. I like the guide and would recommend it to anyone but I have read a lot of stuff saying that Google PR isnt all its cracked up to be nad neither is Alexa. In fact somebody said that there is a whole lot of other stuff out there to take advantage of. CAn anyone give me their opinions on this and let me know what you did to monetize your sites? |

I believe, having not read it and going simply by your quote, that what he's saying is that your blog needs to meet those two levels in order for your blog to attract advertisers. Meaning you will get requests or offers of payment to allow people to put ads on your site. PR doesn't really mean all that much for SERPS but it does help when people are looking to place links on your site. Alexa is just one way to show that your site is getting traffic. |
