Hello Backlinkers! I have been watching various topics in a couple different forums and I can totally tell that forum backlinks do carry weight - and it appears to be almost instant weight gain. Be mindful in everything you do - blogs, articles, forum threads (also Adwords) - to use your keywords in the TOPIC/title, because that is definitely what registers with Google quickest. I have literally seen several instances where it is almost immediate that a forum thread will be on page 1 - then in the future, everytime someone posts to the thread it bounces. So it is a unique opportunity in this sense. (conversely if no one posts to the thread it begins to sink) - so without posting junk/one-liner 'me too' posts, keep going back to comment.) |

Hi, Patricia: I've been watching - and testing - this, too, and I am amazed when I see posts appear on page 1 almost instantly! Wow. Admittedly, I've got a long ways to go before my search engine positioning brings me the traffic I seek, but with persistence, I am slowly making progress! And much of it is due to info, inspiration and encouragement I pick up from fellow PIPSters. Thanks, everybody! Rest assured that even when nobody seems to notice, you ARE having a positive impact on others. GT |

I have no doubt that you will be a star player one day, GT - you already are - theoretically - now you just need to get the $$$$ to prove it! It just takes time and consistent effort. Everything in its season. |

I agree totally! "Everything in its season." I get frustrated sometimes, like many people do, and feel like throwing in the towel. And then I come to my senses and remember that I am building a foundation for the future. Every thing I do each day to support or build my Internet business is adding to the foundation, even if I cannot see it. Earl Nightingale once said something like, It takes time, but time will pass anyway, so why not put your time towards something useful and constructive? Blog and forum posting, articles, web pages, etc., all add to the foundation. A few months ago, I was questioning the value of some of those things. Now, I'm starting to see actual, visible signs of the rising foundation! Woohoo! Once that happens, the building takes shape very quickly! The growing season is upon me - I can sense it in the air. Hi, I totally agree with you. Sometimes i feel like there so much you want to accomplish but it seems that there's so little tme. But if you think about why you are doing it, everything becomes clear and exciting again. Cheers, Jennifer |

It also seems to be widely accepted that Google places manual restrictions on back links from certain sites so that they have no effect. Forums would seem like an ideal place to start as it is blatant self promotion along with article directories. I am sure MSN and Yahoo gobble them up though, especially MSN. It's important not to think of link building purely for SEO at least not directly. More links mean more avenues to generate traffic and if you have quality content people will link to it. I still think a really aggressive link building approach is the way to go which is probably part of the reason why nofollow hasn't made much of an impact on comment spam. Mike. | |
