The program, Amazon S3 Flow Shield makes uploading and organizing a whole lot easier and S3 is dirt cheap to host videos. I agree, it's complex, but once I got Flow Shield, it got a lot easier.

Have you tried bbpress.org/? It is from the creators of wordpress, so I think it would suit your site.

Of course, if you want a robust forum software, I would get vbulletin, SMF, or mybb.

I would advise getting actual (even if it is free) forum software. There are tons of options. I don't think a wordpress plugin is the best idea.
