Want to upload audio files (wma) but too large...convert/compress?

Hello,
I hope it is ok to post this in here.
I have some audio interviews which I want to upload to my wordpress blog, but they are saved as wma files and too big.

What is the best way to either shrink them or convert them to another file type to allow me to upload them?

They are between 12.5 and 21MB (I have 3) and need to be 8 or less to upload.

Any ideas gratefully received I'm not keen to pay a lot for software as it is not something I will use frequently.
Thank-you.

    Hi Kate

I'm assuming that the 8 MB limit is due to a setting in your host, perhaps the "max upload" setting in your php.ini file?

Regardless of the reason for the restriction I'd definitely consider converting the files to MP3. It will likely reduce the sizes, and is also more of a universal format than WMA is.

Another thought is to host the audio files on Amazon S3 and link to them on your page, S3 is dirt cheap and has no size or bandwidth restrictions.

You can convert the file rather than compressing it. Convert the file into mp3 format as it is widely acceptable and it will reduce the size of your file.

Compression of file can lead to a poor quality or loss of data. So better convert your wma file.
