Penguin updates to be more frequent now?

Do you think Google will roll out Penguin more regularly now like with Panda?

This topic is really more speculative then anything since Google aren't saying straight out and this update took over a year to come through. There was an article by Barry Schwartz though mentioning that one of the head people at Google's search team said they are looking to roll out Penguin more regularly, hopefully it turns out to be true.

Google says they are going to try to incorporate Penguin more seamlessly into the algorithm sort of like what they did with the Panda updates, but who knows if that's true or when that will happen.

I do believe though that refreshes will come more often.

More frequent updates is the reasoning behind the complete rebuilding of Penguin between 2.1 and 3

Yep that's what they said, I do believe that they will come more frequently but not before christmas if you have to believe one of these Google guys which is a bit of a bummer as I'm putting in a ton of work and money in an attempt to recover sites.

The last Penguin update was supposed to institute a more frequent system of Penguin updates. Therefore, penalised sites are likely to recover faster than previously.

Well personally I hope that they will refresh more often! That way any sites hit or changes made to potentially bad links will appear faster - it can cut down on people ditching old domains and going for new ones. I think its a win-win for those who are not making churn&burn BH sites!

Just to be clear, I believe John Mueller was the only one that has said this so far, so take that for what it is worth.

John also said on Monday that Penguin was done rolling out. Google immediately said that was wrong.

I do believe that they have a goal to run it more often, but I'm not convinced that we will see it immediately following this update versus sometime later down the road.

I tend to think so, I think this was a refresh to get it rolled out before the next major update of Penguin. The next Penguin will be rebuilt from the ground up and will be refreshed at much faster intervals.

The word is that the next Penguin will come out early 2015.
